Synopsis for the 1st Story
A battle soon erupt between Hal, Kirk, Spock and Khan and the Augments. Hal tries to warn Khan that he is incapable of wielding the red ring he wears. But Khan quickly shows that he is capable of harnessing it and overpowers Hal. The Green Lantern and the away team are capture, and Khan now plans on killing them.
On the planet Oa, Sinestro observe that everything from the Guardians to the Central Power Battery are exactly as it was before the creation of the Green Lantern Corps. He then choose this moment to make his introduction to the Guardians.
Back on the Bryant, Khan is almost about to execute Kirk. But fortunately, Guy, Stewart and Kilowog intervene and using their combined powers in taking Khan out of the ship. This allows the prisoners to escape and are beam aboard the Enterprise. Khan is restrain by the Green Lanterns and allowing the Enterprise to open fire on the Augment, sending Khan to plummet back to the Bryant. However, the battle have completely drain the Green Lanterns' rings. As everyone return to the Enterprise, the Augments make their escape on the Bryant.
The Lanterns and the crew regroup and discuss about Khan's escape and Sinestro's presence on Oa. Luckily, the Manhunters are willing to help as their Teleport Gates can transport the Enterprise to Oa. But everyone are at an impasse on whether they should go to Oa to stop Sinestro from taking the Central Power Battery, or stopping Khan and his Augments who are very likely to threaten the Federation.
On Qo'noS, Larfleeze gets an unexpected visit from Khan, who is looking for the Klingon Emperor. Larfleeze explains to Khan on Sinestro's actions that led to him becoming emperor and temporarily giving the throne to Larfleeze during his absence on Oa, and as well giving a brief explanation on the inner workings of the power rings.
Meanwhile, Sinestro continue his discussion to the beleaguered Guardians in regards to a terrible entity that they had encountered and imprisoned it inside the Central Power Battery; in which he points out that the being has become a yellow impurity at the battery's core. Sinestro then recharges his ring from the battery.
