Starfire (Volume 1) with a cover date of November, 1977.
Synopsis for "The Dwellers of the Dark Domain!"
Following Lady Djinn's death and the destruction of the Lightning Lords' palace, Starfire, Moonwatcher, Thump and the surviving Lightning Lords lead a final battle against the Mygorgs from last issue. Using the new advanced weapons provided by Keeper last issue, Starfire leads them to victory and extends her hand to the Lightning Lords. Eelow is dismissive of Starfire's abilities, but Tantor, the now defacto leader, accepts.
As they recover from the battle, Starfire wants to continue the war but Moonwatcher reminds her that the majority of their forces at this point are all injured and old and inexperienced. They need a safe place to recover. Starfire does not believe a place exists with the Mygorg and Yorg around, but an old man from the Lightning Lords community tells of a place called Haven that no Mygorg or Yorg can go to.
Sadly as they reach the location, a monstrous spider attacks them, killing the old man who hands the key to Haven to Starfire. They find that the spider attacked to protect a kill, revealing a dead monk and footsteps leading from the cave. Knowing the secret lies in the cave, they enter.
We briefly then see a mysterious alien figure land on the other side of the planet and kill a sabertooth cat.
As the gang venture into the cave, they find a shining city of advanced technology and a hovercraft approaching them. Starfire welcomes them, but the priests attack them. Starfire captures the commander of the attacking team and demands to meet with their leader, Maybor, to learn more about the city.
Maybor introduces himself as the King of the Dark Domain and welcomes them to feast as he explains the origin of the city. He explains that the Eye of Armageddon was created by the priests that allows the Mygorg and Yorg to exist on this world. They then conquered the planet, forcing the pirest sects to separate and flee into the world. Maybor's sect, the Dark Domain, then founded Haven.
Starfire questions why they won't use their technology to help fight, but through Maybor's excuses realizes they are cowards. But she also learns that the Mygorg can be defeated if only the Eye of Armageddon was destroyed. Before she can ask more, they find the food and drink Maybor offered them was poisoned and they collapse.
Starfire awakens to find herself bound by Maybor. He explains that he will kill her comrades to preserve the secret of the Dark Domain but that he will spare her if she allows him to marry her. She refuses and frees herself, defeating Mybor by removing his glasses, blinding him to the light he's hidden from. They holds him captive and takes a hovercraft to go free her men from a giant Spider that the priests plan to sacrifice to. Starfire saves them by crashing the hovercraft into the giant spider. Maybor dies in the collision and the priests flee in panic, stampeding over each other in chaos.
Starfire and her warriors return to the rest of their community with the hovercraft and newborn hope that if they find and destroy the Eye of Armageddon, the world will be saved.
