The Guardians have brought order and peace. 
The Steel Guardians are head-modeled drones into which the Guardians of the Universe's minds were downloaded by the Green Lantern Corps in order to bring order and peace into the universe.
History
In a futuristic Last 52 reality, the Green Lantern Corps inserted the Guardians of the Universe's mind into giant head-modeled robots to patrol the universe and create a regime under their control. Earth was also taken over by the Steel Guardians and rebranded it as New Oa.
At some point in time, in Subsector 070, previously known as Star City, the robotic guardians chased a couple of kids, Mansa and her sister, who were not respecting the curfew, to kill them. The two kids were saved by the Green Arrow who destroyed some of the Steel Guardians, forcing the Green Lantern Hal Jordan to step in and fight him.[1]
Later, after Earth 0's heroes and villains rebelled against the Darkest Knight, the Steel Guardians were recruited into the latter's army and dispatched on the battlefield to fight the Green Lantern Corps. During the clash, the once-again Green Lantern Sinestro was shocked by the Steel Guardians' nature, wondering why he never had the idea of turning the Guardians into drones.[2]
