Steve Trevor is a USAF pilot.
History
During a mission, he crash-landed and accidentally discovered the island of Amazonia in the Bermuda Triangle, home of the Amazons, being saved by Princess Diana. He was sent there by US Government to investigate reports of a so-called "ghost signal"--German S.S. Intelligence reports from World War Two that talked about a mystery island, some remnant of Atlantis or Mu. He encountered a meteorological anomaly and crashed on Paradise Island beach.
Disobeying her mother, Queen Hippolyta, Diana fled with Trevor from the island to the United States of America in a Swan Plane, with the desire to see the outside world, which the Amazons call Man's World. So Hippolyta sent Mala, Nubia, Artemis and Troia — and the Gorgon Medusa — to the USA in search for Diana, to force her to return to Paradise Island and face the trial for her misdemeanor.
Back at home, Diana used the Purple Ray to heal Trevor, who had been petrified by Medusa's gaze, before she faced the trial, from which she ended up being acquitted. After that, Diana was allowed to return to Man's World, taking with her Beth Candy, who had also been a witness at the trial, and Steve.[2]
Steve also researched Leon Zeiko, "Dr. Psycho", when he learned that Darnell sent Diana to rescue him in Syria for the interests of the US Army. And what Steve discovered made him suspicious of Zeiko, trying to warn Diana about the danger that that man represents, although his arguments were not well received by her, who was enchanted by him. Dr. Psycho's mental control over Diana only passed when she tried to kill Steve on his orders.
During the fight between Paula von Gunther, after she killed Hippolyta, and Diana with the Amazons in Washington, D.C., the battle moved to the gardens of the White House, which was considered an act of war. And, as Steve was flying a Swan Plane alongside other Amazon vehicles, he was considered a traitor to the nation and immediately arrested.[3]
Trevor had been kept incarcerated in the USDB, United States Disciplinary Barracks. He received a visit from General Darnell on the very day when, under the new administration with Max Lord pulling the President's strings, they changed the law so that it would be legal to execute Steve for treason. The General secretly handed him an adaptative chameleon contact lens that imitated Darnell's retinal scan, and, with that, Steve managed to get out of jail.
Landing on the Amazon Island with the invisible jet, Steve warned Diana and the Amazons about details of the Project A.R.E.S., whose first wave of automata had just been destroyed by them, but Steve informed them of a second wave, an A.R.E.S. Mark 2. While the second wave was not coming, Diana imagined an idea to bring her mother Hippolyta back to life, but for that she needed to go to the realm of Hades in the Underworld to bring her soul back. Warned by the Amazons not to follow her into the world of the dead, Steve ignored them, but instead of going to the Underworld he found Diana's soulless body in the Cave of the Oracle, guarded by Atropos of the Fates. The old lady told him that in order to save Diana someone had to be willing to trade his own life for hers, and he did, Steve fell dead, but knowing that she would be able to discover one way to bring him back to life. Steve's sacrifice gave Diana even more fury when Ares returned shortly afterwards with his new attack.
After the defeat of Ares, the elevation of the Amazon Island and the declaration of the patriarchy's fall in the world, evolving mankind from the "age of Ares and Hades" to the "age of Athena and Aphrodite" by order of the Amazon Queen, she ordered the Amazons to take Steve Trevor to the Fountain of Youth, which was forbidden for a man, but Diana unforbade that, as it was time for things to change.
One thousand years in the future
On Diana's Day, celebrating the thousand years in which women gave birth to the future as it is known then and founded what became known as the world-wide Republic of Harmonia, Professor Garret Manly's male supremacist Manly Party kidnapped Arda Moore, governatrix elect of Gaia, whose government they accuse of institutionalized androphobia, en route to the planet Infanta for play and trade talks.
But Manly's plans, which were called Operation Hercules in reference to the enslaver of the Amazons and was trying to blow up a suicide bomber in Harmonia, the world's capital, were undone by Wonder Woman, who had switched places with Governatrix Moore, and Steve Trevor at the head of the Love Police. Steve ordered the arrest of Garret Manly, real name Ferdilee Trimbeau the Third, leader of the Purple Shirts, for encouraging gender disharmony and for kidnapping, sending him to Reformation Island.[1]
