"Change or Die: 2 of 3": Blind of the Changers tortures Malcolm King to gain information about Stormwatch.

Quote1 We are superhumans, just as your modern crimefighters and covert actions teams are. However, we feel a different responsibility than they do. Their job, as they see it, is to fight the menaces come to them; the supervillains, the weird things in the dark. Their job is to return everything to status quo. They spend so much time fighting esoteric crime that they have little choice. They just don't have the time left to address ordinary menaces; the poison of unearned authority, the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse that ride daily. They try to save the world, but they make no effort to change it. And if this world does not change soon, then it will most certainly die, no matter how many people they beat up. Quote2

StormWatch #49 is an issue of the series StormWatch (Volume 1) with a cover date of June, 1997.

Synopsis for "Change or Die: 2 of 3"

Blind of the Changers tortures Malcolm King to gain information about Stormwatch.

The High flies to the United Nations building where he takes down the nation flags. He also arranged an interview with the news media, in which he properly introduced himself to the public and revealed his and his team's intentions to fight real "ordinary menaces." He argues that other superheroes have fought superhuman threats and esoteric crimes, but they only succeeded in returning everything to status quo. In short, they try to save the world, but they make no effort to change it. So High and his allies are here to save the world from itself, and he makes a symbolic gesture to their intention by burning the flags.

The High's interview caught the attention of Henry Benix, who sent Stormwatch Prime after him. Fuji, Hellstrike and Winter demand The High to come with them, but he declines. A battle ensues in which The High has the advantage over them since he knows their weaknesses from Malcolm King. After beating Prime, The High makes his leave before Bendix could order Stormforce to launch biological weapons on The High.

While SkyWatch keeps a trace of The High, Stormwatch Prime returns to the station to be handled by the medics. Bendix then learns that the Changers' headquarters are in a jungle in Paraguay.

Meanwhile Jenny Sparks stews in her apartment while trying and failing to get into contact with Bendix. She watches her TV and is very surprised to see The High's hijacked broadcast.

Elsewhere, the Changers continued their work. The Doctor briefly suffused the air and water in London with hallucinogen DMT, making people see things very differently. In China's rural areas, Rite saves baby girls from female infanticide. Wish unlocks military strongholds that are locked cures for cancer, blueprints for personal flight, and the children of aliens.

The High confronts Blind and tells him that Malcolm was being deliberately misinformed and under-briefed by Stormwatch, meaning that they cannot lock Stormwatch on Skywatch with their false operating codes. He then notices Malcolm's tortured condition and angrily demands Blind what he had done to him.

Back on SkyWatch, Winter informs Jackson about Malcolm's capture. Bendix is given confirmation of the Changers' base of operations before ordering to assemble Stormwatch Prime, Red, and Black - except Jenny Sparks - for a "killing mission."
