StormWatch #50 is an issue of the series StormWatch (Volume 1) with a cover date of July, 1997.

Synopsis for "Change or Die: 3 of 3"

Henry Bendix has all of Stormwatch except Jenny Sparks and Jackson King gathered and prepared to take on The High and his team, The Changers. Bendix shows them The High's private TV address to Earth in which Bendix deemed them of intending to destroy human civilization and replacing it with a "lawless, drugged society that they will then ignored." Thus he orders a killing mission, executing the Changers before they could enact their plans into effect. After the Stormwatch members left for the transfer bays, Bendix privately curses the Changers for changing the world too early: "Not yet. Not like this."

Stormwatch infiltrates the Paraguayan base and attacks swiftly and thoroughly. Meanwhile, Jenny Sparks finally confronts Bendix and demands answers. She has been a close friend of The High since the 1930s before he disappeared. She asks Bendix why he is going against The High and the Changers rather than talking to them when they are genuinely wanting to fix Earth, in which he declines to reveal and instead reveals how he knew of John Cumberland. When Team One broke up in the 1960s, Bendix worked as an agent for the Richard Nixon administration and first encountered Rose Tattoo in a Russian Science City stealing something for The High's group; the moment he saw her he fell in love with her.

Winter, Swift, and Hawksmoor confront Smoke and Rite. Rather than fighting them, Winter refuses to follow Bendix's orders and tells them to run and disappear. But they refuse. Meanwhile Fahrenheit and Hellstrike have found Malcolm King and Blind, who is unconscious and beaten up. Jackson transports down to the complex and holds Wish at gunpoint; he recognizes her as the rogue activator. While keeping his channel open to everyone, Jackson interrogates Wish into revealing that she is deliberately activating latent superhuman talents of psychotics all over America for her own amusement and keeping Stormwatch distracted without even the knowledge of her team. Furthermore, she went along with the Changers just so she can have more interesting "puppets" to play with. Thereafter, Jackson has Wish transported to Skywatch. But rather than arresting Wish, Bendix has her transferred into deep space much to Jenny's disgust.

Rite and Smoke reveal to Winter more about Rose Tattoo being an ageless "spirit of murder," and the Changers' intention was to provide the tools and technology to the people to change their own lives. Furthermore, the Changers aside from a few others like Wish have no real desire to rule the world.

Bendix reveals to Jenny that he doesn't want the Changers to change the world because he should be the one who will change the world; he wants to control the world in his own vision and sees the Changers a threat to his plans, in which he then orders a Hammerstrike on the Paraguayan complex. Jenny deems him insane and attempts to kill him, but Bendix shuts down the station's power and rendering Jenny powerless without electricity.

The rest of the surviving Changers join up with the others with Winter and Stormwatch Black; they now know Rose had killed the Eidolon. The High and the others were also not aware about Blind's attack on Jenny. Blind explains the reason why he targeted Jenny is because she knew The High and would have very likely talked him out, thus ruining their plans.

Back on Skywatch, Bendix attempts to escape on a powered up transfer bay but Jenny shoots a bolt of electricity at Bendix and seemingly kills him. But Jenny discovers the transfer bay's logs were purged and now knows Bendix is alive and on the run.

Stormwatch Red and Prime attack the Changers while the others try to deescalate the situation. Smoke kills Blind whom he deemed insane, but Smoke is then killed by Rose. Hawksmoor avenges Smoke's death by twisting Rose's neck before telling everyone to stop fighting. Unfortunately, Bendix had deployed a Hammerstrike Deep Sanction Missile onto the complex, fatally crushing the Engineer and releasing a biowar payload and tailored acid bomb that kills The Doctor and Rite; only the Stormwatch members are immunized to all Stormwatch weaponry. Only The High remains alive. Enraged by the loss of his friends, Cumberland flies up to space, determined to destroy Skywatch under the belief that Bendix is on board.

Jenny Sparks is unable to contact Cumberland and with hundreds of people on Skywatch, she reluctantly erect the Storm Door; The High flies directly into the Storm Door and gruesomely splatters against the shields.
