Synopsis for "Bleed, Part 1 of 3"

StormWatch's Science Deck has developed what they called "Description Theory," in which it allows its users to access the operation system of the universe via the Description Engine. When Henry Bendix went rogue and shut down Skywatch's power, the Description Engine apparently searched for another reactor and inadvertently "punched a hole" into another universe. After Molly Perkins and her science team carefully studied the phenomenon, they used Description Theory to view the other universe by altering discrete groups of atoms in that universe into viewing devices.

In that alternate universe, Jack Hawksmoor is the Weatherman. There are two-hundred superhumans on Earth and causes of "superhumanity" are linked to the "Sigma Event, medical intervention, simple evolution, and in a single case, alien abduction." The alternate StormWatch employs twenty superhumans and is therefore the largest single grouping of powerful individuals. Unlike the mainstream Earth, this Earth lacks alien presences aside from knowledge of the Daemonites, who are the only alien race they have conclusive proof but only through artifacts and bones.

One day, Hawksmoor is alerted to an anomaly in Arizona in which an unknown extraterrestrial spire appears. Hawksmoor recognizes the structure's technology before ordering it contained and everyone staying as far away as possible from it. He later explain to his team leaders that the structure belonged to the same alien race who abducted Hawksmoor and forcibly giving him his powers in which he communicates cities, but at the cost of physically unable to survive outside of an urban environment for long; for the past two years Hawksmoor had been going to the hospital to remove his implants to become fully human. Furthermore, the Watch Hall confirms that the spire is transmitting a signal into outer space. Hawksmoor fears an alien race is coming back to Earth for less benign reasons.

Back in the mainstream universe, Perkins and Christine show their discovery to Jackson King. Jackson in turn suggests bringing their Jack Hawksmoor to see the other universe and as well scanning Arizona in case there is a similar alien spire. Despite their viewing of the other universe being kept unaware to their native inhabitants, the alternate Hawksmoor appears to notice his audience.
