Synopsis for "A Day at the Office"
John Doran is surprised and very unamused to find Gorgeous waiting in his office, naked. She tells John that there is a spark between them despite the fact John is married; in which she can tell that he is lately not getting much affection from his wife. But John firmly tells Wanda that her behavior is an attack on his family, job, and integrity, and he then warns her to get dressed or she will leave the P.H.D. permanently. Despite John rejecting her advances, Gorgeous is still left aroused to know that she misjudged John’s character (much to his eternal chagrin) before she finally gets dressed and leaves his office.
John later checks on Dr. Shaw’s wellbeing following the events in Las Vegas. After learning from Shaw’s therapist that he is suppressing his feelings due to his fears of becoming the Monstrosity, John tries to talk Shaw to face his inner demons. But Shaw does not take his advice and ends their conversation until he feels better.
Meanwhile at Central Park, Fahrenheit is informing Lord Defile about P.H.D.; she has been working as a mole for Defile after the Daemonite offered to help her regain her powers by healing her brain injury. As a demonstration, Defile restored some of Fahrenheit's powers. So long as Fahrenheit provide him valuable information, he will fully restore her powers.
John later checks on Paris and tries to talk to him about the issue between him and Fahrenheit, but only to learn that Paris has been living in the Precinct's locker room since Paris finds the rent in New York too expensive. After visiting Machinist's weight loss program, John debriefs the status of his team to Jackson King. The Weatherman then informs John that he will be accompanying Stormwatch Prime to Russia in search of stolen nuclear material and therefore the P.H.D. will be on their own.
Defile meets with Lady Decadence and reveals that his plans to control the P.H.D. and subvert Stormwatch from within are impossible. The P.H.D. has proven to be more productive than Defile had anticipated and he now sees them as a threat that must be extinguished. Knowing that Stormwatch Prime is leaving America, Defile sees this an opportunity to make their attack on the P.H.D.
John later learns from his wife that she is diagnosed with cancer. He shares this tragic news to Black Betty in which he plans to spend more time with his family while the team continues to improve themselves.
As everyone at the 18th Precinct goes about their day, Defile begins his attack on the P.H.D. Along with his Daemonite followers, Defile recruited Cooler, Amadeus, Attica, and Stricture to capture Fahrenheit, Betty, Machinist, and Paris while trapping the entire building in ice (courtesy of Cooler) and cutting off all communications to the outside. John and Gorgeous run to the forensics lab to get Dr. Shaw, but only to find Defile and Decadence had awakened Shaw's alter-ego; they have promised the Monstrosity that he can have Gorgeous for himself in return he kills everyone else in the Precinct. The Monstrosity smashes a hole into the floor and sends John falling into it, landing him in the basement where he is surrounded by Daemonites. Fortunately, however, John is saved by his fellow officers who have armed themselves from the Precinct's armory. John then proceeds to lead his men in taking back their home from Defile.
