Synopsis for "The Fires of Patriotism"

All over the world, the loss of global communication caused by one of Citizen Soldier's superhumans have left minor and serious problems including lack of GPS signal in naval navigation and a U.S. nuclear submarine that is on standby for a nuclear attack on either China and North Korea.

In Washington, Golovin has set up a sniping position on top of the Capitol Building. Pickney and Jaeger are briefly detained by the Civil Defense Administration on the White House lawn. After the CDA agents cleared them, they are brought to Director Ivana Baiul. They explain the current situation to Baiul and Pickney manages to negotiate a mutual cooperation between Team Achilles and the CDA; in which Baiul gives Santini and his team permission to assault the Supreme Court for ten minutes before calling in the Homeland Security Squadron.

Pickney and Jaeger regroup with Santini and the others. The team are then armed with special mercury-tipped flechette and depleted uranium sabot rounds before entering the Supreme Court. Inside, they find a strange kind of dust covering the inner rooms along with several dead people including some of the justices with their skins peeled off. They are then ambushed by the perpetrator, who is made out of sand and has the power to control it. Team Achilles' bullets prove useless on him until Santini throws a magnesium grenade, which turns the post-human's body into glass. Thus leaving the last post-human.

The third post-human is speeding towards Washington at Mach Four and increasing, as he has the ability to metabolize the atmosphere to suit his speed and power, tearing anything in his way. Golovin spots the speedster and her shots are ineffective on him. The speedster spots Tefibi standing in his way and prepares to run him over. However, Tefibi discharges a Entry portal at him and sends him to the Project Entry Universe, where he collides and explodes at the alternate ruins of the Capitol Building. Although the Capitol Building is saved for the moment, Citizen Soldier and hundreds of his people teleport above the building through a large star-shaped portal. Tefibi urgently contacts Santini of the situation, which at the same time Santini and his team is dealing with the Homeland Security Squadron being led by none other than Giant.
