Synopsis for "Enemy Manipulation"

Tuesday the 9th...

In Grozny, Blake Coleman is in the hand of a giant that's trying to eat him while Golovin and Pickney look on from their hiding spot. Fortunately, Coleman breaks free by stabbing his combat knife into the giant's thumb before dropping an anti-personnel mine into the giant's throat. He then triggers the mine, killing the giant almost instantly. With the SPB dead, there are six more of the super-terrorists Stormwatch needs to eliminate.

Thursday the 4th...

Santini debriefs his team about their mission to eliminate Dhul Fiqar, the rogue superpowered activator. Pickney asks Santini how he was able to gain the intel on the terrorists' ID photos and facility since almost any government agency would only supply their unit with half-truths. Golovin sees a creature above Santini's head to which Santini reveals that this is where they got their intel from. The creature is an SPB, Buzz Dixon, whose body is tailored to infiltration, stealth and observation. Santini explains that Buzz was seconded to his unit during Operation Desert Storm and Jungle Thunder, and have vouched for his work. He resumed explaining their mission, in which they must be swift in eliminating their targets.

Friday the 5th...

Dr. Grunier tries to convince Santini to remove Cisco from the mission since he's suffering from PTSD and has gotten more angrier about what happened to him during the UN attack. Santini refuses, believing that Cisco is fit to fight since he is a professional.

In the present....

Coleman is attacked by another SPB, a six-breasted werewolf. He knocks out his attacker with a single punch before she is brutally gunned down by Cisco. Coleman harshly reprimands him for stepping out of line.

Back at Stormwatch HQ, Tefibi and Santini are monitoring the mission through the CIA's satellites. They discuss about Chechnya's history regarding to its occupation by Russia until the Authority forced the Russian Federation out of Chechnya during the Second Chechen War. Despite Chechnya's independence it is still rife with poverty and strife between nationalists and radical fringe Islamists, in which the latter have been constantly attacking neighboring Dagestan and driving the Russians to build up their military along the border, threatening to invade again. So Santini had convinced the Russian government to use his plan against Dhul Fiqar's forces while hoping the Authority would not interfere.

The Authority are monitoring the situation. The Engineer and Hawksmoor debate on whether they should stop Stormwatch since they were warned not to intervene. The Engineer sees no reason why Stormwatch should be stopped since they are targeting super-terrorists responsible for the UN attack. Hawksmoor argues Stormwatch's action sets a bad example, as the Russian military sees this as an opportunity to defy the Authority's orders and invade Chechnya. Midnighter ends the debate by rationalizing they should take care of the super-terrorists that should serve as a measured response. The three proceed to Door down to Grozny. However, Tefibi have hacked into the Carrier's Shift-Doors, redirecting and keeping the Authority away from Grozny.

By the time the Authority have regained control of the Shift-Doors, they find Team Achilles had seemingly vacated Grozny. Then suddenly Hawksmoor is incapacitated due to being wired to the war-torn city. The Team Achilles snipers shoot at the downed Hawksmoor and the Engineer shoots back at where she thinks they are, but misses. Before she can realize it, Team Achilles' plan starts to come into shape: they have lured the Authority into fighting the remaining super-terrorists.

Meanwhile, Santini and Tefibi are paid a visit by the Russian ambassador to the UN, Kuryakin. Santini explains the situation to Kuryakin, in which he reveals that the resulting battle between the Authority and the super-terrorists would give his team enough distraction to find and eliminate Dhul Fiqar. Kuryakin is pleased with the progress before he unexpectedly pulls out a pistol and shoots Santini in the chest before explaining that his government has a "slight change of plans."
