Synopsis for Adam Strange: "Menace of the Robot Raiders"

This story is reprinted from Mystery in Space #53.

In Praca Floriana, Rio De Janeiro, Adam Strange has tracked the location of the next Zeta-Beam to a single park bench. Seeing that two children are occupying the space, Adam offers them money to buy ice cream so that he can intercept the beam.

Arriving on Rann, Adam is greeted by Alanna who is piloting a giant robot. Alanna explains that since Adam has been gone, aliens known as Girks came to Rann seeking a common mineral known as Orichalk. As payment for mining, the Girks gave the people of Ranagar robots, including Zagar, the robot that Alanna is piloting. Suspicious of the Girks intentions, Adam relates the story of the Trojans to Alanna, who alleviates some of Adam's concern by showing him that the robots are controlled by one Ranagar's own, Vor Kan.

Later while sight seeing, Adam wishes to see the Girks, but before Alanna can take him to meet the aliens, a disembodied voice orders the people of Ranagar to surrender the city, and sets the robots to attack.

Wanting to confront the Girks, Adam organizes a group of soldiers to go to the mines. There, the city guard commander Kal Jar attacks the Girks, who counter attack. But soon the Girks surrender and the two groups meet to discuss what's going on. The Girks explain that they are not responsible for the attacks as they relinquished all control of the robots to Ranagar when they had sold them. Realizing that it must have been somebody from Rann, Adam travels back to Ranagar city to confront the robot controller, Vor Kan. Vor Kan attacks Adam, but Adam easily defeats him and smashes the robot controls.

Later, Adam explains to Alanna that Vor Kan had sold out to another city state and used the robots to achieve the rival states agendas. Suddenly, Adam fades away, the Zeta-Beam wearing off and is transported back to Earth.
