Synopsis for "Nightshade Odyssey, Part 1: Slipping into Darkness"

Amanda Waller is summoned to the Oval Office in which she suspects that she is going to be grilled by the President for the Suicide Squad's unauthorized rescue mission in Russia. However, she very unpleasantly finds the President with Derek Tolliver and Senator Cray. The President tells Waller that he wants the Suicide Squad to help Senator Cray to get re-elected because the Senator and Tolliver threatened a full public disclosure of Task Force X.

The KGB attempts to extract Nemesis from the Justice League Russian Embassy. They are unable to find their quarry after Boris Dmitravich Razumihin grants them a search inside the embassy. After the KGB agents leaves, Boris opens a secret room containing a gagged and tied up black market dealer named Feodor Illyich Toozenbach, whose identity and clothes had been taken by Nemesis who is currently fleeing out of Russia. Boris tells Feodor that he will be set free on the condition that he doesn't speak anyone about this.

Waller returns to Belle Reve and tells Nightshade that she is finally given her personal mission. Benjamin Turner tries to get Waller to talk about what is troubling her, but she refuses to answer.

Marnie Herrs goes over with Floyd Lawton after he missed a few of their sessions. She tries to get him to talk about his marriage in which he states that there is nothing good to talk about.

Boomerang refuses to join in Nightshade's mission. However, Turner gets him drunk and shanghai him on the mission.

After gathering the Squad, Nightshade takes them to the Land of the Nightshades to rescue her brother from The Incubus. As they arrive, the entire dimension is malformed and twisted. The group is suddenly transported to a throne hall. Sitting on the throne is the Dhazmor, the entity who gave June Moone her powers. Dhazmor tells Nightshade that she shouldn't have come here before his entire body breaks into pieces. The Squad (except the inebriated Boomerang) is then captured in stone bindings by Nightshade's brother.
