Synopsis for "Weird War Tales"

The story starts with Amanda Waller driving at night arguing with hallucinations of Rick Flag, Deadshot, and Senator Eden. She will need to talk with a congressional hearing about teh actions of the Suicide Squad.

Bronze Tiger and John Economos talks about recent events such as Rick Flag's murders, the Suicide Squad publicly helping the USSR during the Invasion to help public relations, and how Flo Crawley has an unreciprocated crush on Bronze Tiger.

Flo gets contacted by Oracle for the first time.

Simon LaGrieve and Marnie Herrs talk about possible new members of the squad and contemplate quitting due to the decisions and fallout of Amanda Waller.

Nightshade is still hurt from a gunshot wound and Nemesis comes to talk about all of the things that happened recently. He relates a funny story about Captain Boomerang and being in Australia. After leaving her, Nemesis becomes a victim of a pie in the face.

Notes

Trivia

  • In this issue, Barbara Gordon's alter-ego as Oracle is introduced. However, her identity is not disclosed in this story. Barbara was previously paralyzed from the waist down by the Joker in Batman: The Killing Joke.
  • A silhouetted figure resembling Swamp Thing appears on this issue's first page. This cameo can be considered apocryphal, since Swamp Thing was lost in time before the start of Invasion and did not return to the present until much later.
