History

Sunspot appeared during Operation: Humiliation terrorizing the people of Los Angeles with threats of remaking the world in his image with the power he possessed. Green Lantern Guy Gardner confronted and humiliated Sunspot into burning off his right foot when Guy snared him by it with a green manacle. Guy then sealed off both his right foot and his left hand, then left him for the authorities while he was taken by Dr. Fate to deal with Glorious Godfrey.

Trivia

• Sunspot was made as a "Take That" towards Jim Shooter, a previous editor-in-chief for Marvel Comics and his creations at the time, Kenneth Connell, the Star Brand, and the New Universe. Sunspot physically resembled Shooter, while his costume and design resembled Kenneth Connell and, at one point, the villain proclaimed he was going to "create a New Universe".
