The Time Trap is an episode of season 3 of Super Friends. It premiered on September 30, 1978.
Synopsis for "The Time Trap"
The Legion of Doom uses Grodd's latest invention (a spacial time conveyor) to go back in time to rob the riches of the Earth and trap in time any Superfriends that interfere.
Black Manta and Giganta trap Aquaman and Apache Chief 70 million BCE but Apache Chief tracks down where the Hall of Justice will be built and Aquaman buries his communicator where timed to go off 70 million 1978 years and 252 days in the future.
Sinestro and Captain Cold lure Green Lantern and Samurai to the time of Camelot where Green Lantern's ring runs out of power trapping them there.
Grodd and Solomon Grundy lure Batman and Robin to ancient Rome and frame them for the theft of Ceaser's treasury.
After searching the entire galaxy Aquaman's communicator goes off and the Superfriends realize that their comrades are trapped in the past. Superman use his powers to time travel and rescue the other Superfriends.
The Legion plans to go back to Sutter's Mill and mine out all the gold before the gold rush. The Super friends' computer calculates this to be January 23, 1848 the day before gold was discovered. The Superfriends capture the Legion of Doom but Grodd reveals that the time conveyor has an emergency escape fuction and the Legion escapes through time.

Notes
Bloopers & Inconsistencies
Even in a fictitious reality that accepts the notion of super-powered individuals, this episode still demonstrates several logistical improbabilities.
- Black Manta only said what year they were in not the month or day...so how did Aquaman know to add precisely 252 days?
- Carbon-14 dating is used to date when Aquaman buried his communicator. Problem here is two fold. First, radiocarbon dating gives a range not an exact date. Second radiocarbon dating becomes harder to do on samples older then 50,000 years old and effectively impossible for anything over 75,000 years old.
- Hal Jordan makes no reference to even trying to contact a Green Lantern of that time period.
- It is shown in Secret Origins of the Super Friends that actions in the past via time travel change the present...so the Legion's actions could have sent mammoth ripples throughout history. For some reason this doesn't occur to anyone at the time.
Trivia
- Caesar makes a reference to the Colosseum which was opened 80 CE.
