Super Powers Collection #17 is an issue of the series Super Powers Collection (Volume 1) published in 1984.
Synopsis for the 1st Story
Mantis drains all of Earth's electrical networks to give himself an incredible power boost. Martian Manhunter and Red Tornado save a moon rocket which starts to crash after the power goes out in the middle of the launch, then join forces with Aquaman who points a strange island that hadn't been there the day before. On the island is Mantis' fortress, which the heroes storm. Mantis uses his power grid to take control of Red Tornado and turn him against Martian Manhunter. When Mantis fells the Martian with a blast of fire, however, his concentration over Red Tornado's broken. This allows the android to destroy Mantis' equipment with a tornado blast. Aquaman controls some whales into battering the fortress, bringing it down. Before the heroes can capture Mantis, Darkseid teleports him back to Apokolips. The trio agree none of them want to be in Mantis' shoes after such a spectacular failure.
