Synopsis for "The PolarShield Project"

A young girl enters the shop of a fortune teller woman, who states that she has turned 14, surprising her. She reminisces how had seen the shop earlier in a vision and states that she wants to know about her future. The fortune teller then looks at her hand, spotting the mark of the foxglove, a flower that is both beautiful and poisonous. As she calls her "Your Highness", she locks the door and states that the Five Fingers, four without her, want to talk to her. Four women then come out, telling her to come with them and assuring they mean no harm. The girl however sets the place on fire and flees, refusing to believe them. A month later in the Metropolis, Clark, who is secretly Superman, is trying to seal a hole in the flood walls, while his wife Lois and son Jon watch. Jon uses his super-vision to spot Bruce and Damian watching the scene, and badmouths them about her to his mom, who berates him and tells Jill Olsen to take him home, though Jon is able to watch his father finish repairing the wall.

Superman goes to the Coleumbrian capital a week later and meets the Governor General, who tells him that the water levels are rising due to global warming, but Wayne Enterprises and PolarShield Project are trying to lower the temperatures by spreading dust in Earth's atmosphere, though it's only a temporary fix and they ned him to collect the dust from asteroids around Mars for a permanent solution. Superman acquiesces, even though it would take months for the mission. When Jon opposes it, he states they must use their power for good. He and Lois also reveal that they're moving to Wyndmere due to rising water levels. Later at the Wayne Tower, Patience informs Bruce that someone had deliberately damaged the flood walls and he states that he'll deal with it himself. The girl who had earlier escaped the fortune teller opens a box and remembers how her mother told her at her deathbed to not open it before her 14th birthday. She told her to leave Upper Landis for Coleumbria and left her with mark of the foxglove, with which she would lead the "Five" someday.

Wayne, dressed as Batman, later spots a group of thugs damaging the flood walls, before informing Patience and attacking them. As he fights them, Damian jumps in and attacks the thugs with a slingshot. Batman tells him to go home and calls in an aircraft capable of carrying two people, while the police arrive after being informed by Patience. Later at the Wayne Tower, a mob starts rioting over the breach in the flood walls built by Wayne Enterprises, while Batman tells Damian in the Batcave to never follow him again. Damian requests that he let him be his sidekick and while Batman assures he will when he is ready, Damian states he wants to be called Ian as he hates his name. As the Wayne tower starts burning, Batman leaves with him in the Bat-Copter, deciding to shift out of Metropolis. Bruce later contacts Clark for assistance with the thugs damaging the wall, and informs that someone is watching them from the roof when he arrives. Clark spots a woman who reveals herself as Avryc and realizes that she must be the leader.

Meanwhile across Coleumbria, the water level has been steadily rising, causing people to move inland. Lois, Jon and the Waynes soon leave for Wyndmere, while Clark leaves for Mars. Jon however struggles to fit into the new city and is later confronted at his school by a native resident, who bashes him for fleeing to his city. Lois soon leaves to cover a story and leaves him in the care of their neighbor Mrs. Kiack. Sometime later, the PolarShield Project succeeds in stabilizing Earth's temperature temporarily. Meanwhile in the Coleumbrian capital, a mysterious figure praises the development and orders to proceed with the second phase. Soon winter sets in, and Ian one day stops a group of thugs harassing the flood refugees. Meanwhile at school, Jon meets a girl named Tilly, who finds it strange that he's constantly searching about the PolarShield project. He states that it's only a temporary fix until temperatures can be reversed and states that it isn't a joke, which causes her to become upset and leave.

Entering the Ground Central café, Jon spots Ian arguing with a man for insulting Bruce and it develops into a fight. Jon tries to break up, before Ian storms away, telling him he's not his dad. Back at home, Jon gets worried about Lois not calling like she does everyday and Perry learns the next day that she has gone into a coma from a mysterious flu-like disease, but decides to keep it a secret, even telling Jon she will not be in contact for some days, after he gets encouraged by Tilly to question him. He then offers that he work for the Daily Planet, and Jon agrees upon the condition that Tilly be allowed to work there too. Ian later contacts Jon on his wristband, promising to show him the truth about Lois. At the home of the Wayne family, Ian shows him that his mother's in a coma, and Bruce had visited her at the hospital, where he also read her medical reports. As they walk back home, Tilly informs Jon that his mother had the same symptoms as the children falling ill at their school and he realizes there must be a connection.

Jon later convinces Perry to let him research the mysterious flu along with Tilly, and starts seeing the same girl with the foxglove mark sit in the room across him every day. He learns that she is Candace and is researching a legend, before Tilly spots them and gets jealous. She makes Candace hold the map showing homes of people who got ill all over the city. A restaurant called Devil's Head Eatery however was closed after lot of people fell ill, and they guess that there may be a connection. As he walks back home, he gets confronted by a gang who try to beat up on him, telling him to mind his own business. A disguised Ian soon interrupts and a fight break outs, but he and Jon quickly subdued the goons. While walking away, Ian doesn't reveal who he is, telling Jon to call him Batkid. Back at home, Ian tells Patience to use the drones for surveillance of the gangs terrorizing Wyndmere. Jon later goes to the Devil's Head Eatery at night and finds boxes of Sage Foods, which also serves their school, lying around it.

While Jon is searching, Candace comes up to Devil's Head and upon meeting him, informs that the cactus in the eatery's logo is the same one on the stick her mom left her. The two then decide to uncover the truth together. Back at school, Jon tries to stop some native students from bullying flood refugees and gets into an argument. Ian interrupts it, before Jon grabs and crushes the bully's button, making him flee. Ian tells him that he is a thug bullying people for money and convinces him to work together. Later at the Daily Planet, Perry congratulates Tilly and Jon for uncovering Sage Foods' connection with the mysterious flu, before telling them to let the adults handle it, much to their chagrin. Jon then asks Ian to meet him, Tilly and Candace in order to raid a Sage Foods facility, while acting upon his advice to disguise himself. In the facility, they find a secret lab where they've been running tests and Jon discovers the secret server room with his super-vision. They discover that the employees hid the contamination out of fear.

As a bunch of goons enter the Sage Foods facility, Jon discovers a way out, but gets grabbed before he can escape. Ian jumps in to save him and after having dealt with them, escapes. Unknown to the other kids, Jon stayed behind to interrogate a thug, who revealed they were working for Avryc. Ian tells Patience the next day to buy Sage Foods, while Jon tricks Jill into admitting Lois was going after Avryc. After discovering the address of the guy he earlier interrogated - Billy, he decides to only bring Candace and Tilly along. Ian later learns that Sage Foods has declined the offer for a buyout. At Billy's home, Jon confronts the thug and knocks him over as he attacks him, while telling him he had attacked him earlier in an alley. Billy informs that it was Ian who snitched about him researching the illness, and later Jon finds out from Jill that Lois had learnt about Avryc being in contact with an executive of the PolarShield Project before falling ill.

Candace goes back to Devil's Head Eatery and receives a vision of the Coleumbrian Quarter after seeing a painting of its logo. She also receives a strange vision of her kneeling before a woman. Jon later ambushes Ian, after having Tilly fool him about a robbery at a Wayne Enterprises warehouse and tries to beat him for setting him up. Ian reveals that he did it after being asked by Candace, who's actually a royal, but he did it because he needed help in uncovering the truth. Candace soon comes up after being informed by Tilly and states that regardless of what she did, it still helped them, including Tilly being able to trace the virus. Tilly then uncovers that Avryc's gang plans to spread the flue disease at the Wyndmere and the group confronts the criminals there. Jon and Ian succeed in subduing her while the toxin is neutralized with water. As Avryc and her thugs get taken away, the kids celebrate and agree that it's beginning of a new partnership.
