Synopsis for "Chapter 5"

The Cosmoteers chase Dominator X and his new baby clone "Little Infinity" through the streets of Calluum. Travv indiscriminately fires at them, endangering and harming civilians. The others tell him to hold back but he says that the people of crime-ridden Calluum are all potential future enemies and even has the mind-controlled clones deliberately and "proactively" murder some bystanders.

Meanwhile on Decidia, Superboy wakes up on a bed in a cave under some yellow solar lamps. The two alien boys who found him come in and introduce themselves as Gleeb and Krun, telling him they are some of the few survivors of Infinity's rampage. They recognise him from his exploits with the Cosmoteers and said they had hope that he would come to save them from Infinity. Conner notices the Zeta Beam bracelet is missing and Gleeb tells him they found it damaged but are trying to repair it. Furious at himself for failing to save Decidia from Infinity, and letting Travv get away to hurt more people, Conner flies out of the cave and screams in frustration.

On Calluum, Travv corners Dominator X, who flees into a crowd. Pira and Rotur-Za tell Travv to let him get away and catch him again when there are no innocent bystanders nearby, but Travv makes the clones bombard the crowd. Dominator X survives as Little Infinity creates a shield for him, but dozens of people are horribly immolated. Pira and Rotur-Za are horrified, but Travv simply walks though the carnage, telling them to keep up.

Back on Decidia, Gleeb tracks Superboy to the mountaintop he is brooding on. Superboy tells Gleeb that he's been trying to recapture his earliest days as a superhero, when he felt needed, but he has failed everyone and the universe will pay for his mistake. Gleeb tells Superboy he didn't fail his people, and that whatever his motives were his actions were still good. He gives Superboy the repaired bracelet, which Conner use to call Earth and tell Kelex to put out a signal to any ships in the vicinity of Decidia to offer aid. Conner realises that he has been inspiring hope like Clark does, and says it's time to step up and become a man. He has Kelex track the Ripper's energy signature and teleport him to its location.

On Calluum, Travv has cornered a random group of civilians and demands that they tell him where Dominator X is, despite them and his teammates telling them that they obviously don't know and are just innocent bystanders. He blasts one of them, daring anyone to try and stop him. He continues "interrogating" the group, but when he tries to kill another one Superboy teleport in front of him and deflects the blast. Travv sends the clones to attack Superboy but Conner zooms past them and rips the mind control device out of Travv's forehead. With the mind control shut down the clones are freed, and Pir and Rotur-Za lead them to the spaceport to escape. Conner tells Travv to give up and that it's not too late to change, but Travv attacks him.

At the spaceport, Pira and Rotur-Za corner Dominator X and trap him in a cage. Pira calls the Green Lanterns to come and arrest him, aware that they will also lock her and Rotur-Za up for the crimes they committed with Travv. Meanwhile Conner and Travv battle through the city; Travv attempts to use a red solar generator on Conner again but he rips Travv's bionic arm off. A bomb in the arm begins to power up and Conner creates a force field around himself and some nearby civilians. He yells at Travv to get behind the shield but Travv refuses. The bomb detonates and Travv is seemingly destroyed except for some bones. Pir and Rotur-Za come up to Conner and tell him not to blame himself, as Travv was too far gone to save, and that they have decided to turn themselves in to the Lanterns. Suddenly, Rotur-Za notices that Travv's bones are gone.

Travv's spine, moving independently, crawls into the Ripper and smashes open the tank with the mindless clone of Conner in it. The spine digs its way into the clone body and takes control. Travv flies out in the cloned body and squares off with Conner.
