A chunk of an alien world falls in Africa, and finds its way to Clark's Geology class, causing him to collapse. Lex Luthor decides that the rock's radiation properties could easily stand in for Plutonium in a device he wants to use to overload the power grid, but Superboy grounds the power surge. Kryptonite Kills is an episode of season 1 of Superboy. It premiered on January 28, 1989.

Synopsis for "Kryptonite Kills"

A chunk of an alien world falls in Africa, and finds its way to Clark's Geology class, causing him to collapse. Lex Luthor decides that the rock's radiation properties could easily stand in for Plutonium in a device he wants to use to overload the power grid, but Superboy grounds the power surge. Lex then tries to disguise the crystal as a necklace for his girlfriend, but when the police discover the remains of the power surge device, Lex panics and starts a fire in his dorm room. Superboy tries to help, but collapses from the crystal's proximity, leaving him helpless until the girl is rescued and taken out of the room. Superboy takes the remains of the meteor and throws it back into space, but the piece Lex used for the necklace is still somewhere, waiting to be found.
