Krypto is affected by the radiations of a strange element and a Kryptonite meteor, making him a giant and giving him rabies. Superboy finally cures him by using the same elements to make himself a giant, giving Krypto an X-ray vision treatment, and then turning his own vision on himself by way of mirrors to reduce himself to normal size.

Synopsis for "The Superdog That Was Greater Than Krypto!"

This story is reprinted from Superboy #105.

Saving coal-miners from a cave-in, Superboy is exposed to Red Kryptonite and pretends to be made into a simpleton, in order to trap two gangsters. Chief Parker and the President of the Smallville Bank and Trust are part of the trap, where "Specs" McGurk and "Scarface" Malone are fooled into disclosing their operation.

The Red Kryptonite had actually only given Superboy a sixth finger on each hand.
