Synopsis for "The New Boy of Steel!"

A Kryptonite ray of Lex Luthor's has an unexpected affect when it is altered by a photographer's flash into a beam that transfers Superboy's powers to Pete Ross, who is standing beside him at the time. Using his new powers, Pete Ross takes a time trip three days into the future and sees a headline on the Daily Planet building in Metropolis indicating that Lex Luthor will destroy Superboy in that time. Thus, Pete takes a Superboy costume from one of Clark's robots, acts arrogantly towards his former friend, and takes on the identity of Superboy so that he will suffer whatever fate is in store for the Boy of Steel. Unfortunately, Pete had failed to stay long enough in the future to learn that Lex Luthor would merely destroy a Superboy statue, which the villain does, with another ray-blast. The blast transfers Pete's powers back to Superboy, and Superboy melts Luthor's ray-gun with heat vision.
