Synopsis for "Battle of the Century"
Dubbilex decides to give Superboy a test at shielding his thoughts--a test that involves a flying Krypto, courtesy of Dub's telekinesis. Roxy leaves the Compound to meet with Sam Makoa about being a cop, while Rex is on edge over his recent deal with Gambolli, his creditor; a deal that will deliver Superboy right into the hands of Gambolli's Champion: a powerful but amnesic youth.
Later, while showing off his powers at high school, Superboy finds a note from Tana that asks him to meet her for lunch at Diamondhead Crater. Superboy shows up, but instead of Tana, Champion is there and attacks him.
Sam meets with Tana and tells her he thinks she'd make a good cop, but the meeting is interrupted with news of the fight. Over at the news station, Tana is told that since she and the Kid are an item, she can no longer cover him at all.
Superboy battles the Champion, who is extremally powerful, even possessing heat vision. He pounds Superboy and tosses several cars at him, but Superboy manages to hold his own. Gambolli is broadcasting the fight live all over the world, taking bets on who was going to win. Champion's trainer warns Gambolli that Champion is sick and getting worse, but Gambolli doesn't care so long as the fight is finished. Superboy and Champion keep mixing it up, their fight taking them to the nearby military base. Champion is tough but getting weaker -- his condition continues to get worse, but he refuses to give in.
Then out of the blue Knockout turns up ready to join the fun.
