Superboy (Volume 4) #69 is an issue of the series Superboy (Volume 4) with a cover date of December, 1999.

Synopsis for "Hawaii-Hana Hou!"

Superboy and Serling arrive in Hawaii via the Whiz Wagon, which lands smack in the middle of a crowded street in Honolulu and gridlocks traffic. The locals are not happy about it, nor are they pleased to see Superboy back, figuring that trouble will have followed him. Superboy programs the Whiz Wagon to head for The Compound and then hears gunfire coming from up the block.

A trio of losers disguised as Joker, Reverse Flash, and Darkseid have just robbed a bank and are making their getaway. Superboy is on scene--but so is the "incredibly uncanny" Kana, a super stretching kind of hero that bats aside "Darkseid" and "Reverse Flash" easily. Superboy uses his TT power to blow up a chunk of the street to stop "Joker." It works, but the locals are ticked off that he would use such excessive means to capture him. Kana tells the Kid that it's an honor to meet him, however, and confesses that it was the Kid that inspired him to be a super-hero. Kana splits as the police show up--including Sam Makoa. Makoa and the Kid catch up some and Makoa says that he thinks Hawaii just wasn't big enough for Superboy's spirit, especially after hearing about all his adventures across the world. Superboy admits that he hasn't heard anything from Tana or Roxy, but he asks Makoa to help him see another old acquaintance--Knockout. He goes to prison to see her and she begs him to free her so that they can be together again; she claims that she's changed a lot and that together they could be a team greater than Superman himself. Superboy tells her that she'll never manipulate him again and leaves.

Superboy and Serling go the Compound, which has become a little run down since he left it. Krypto jumps from the shadows and "attacks" Superboy. Hillary Chang is there, still faithfully watching the dog. Kon decides that he'll take Krypto back with him to Cadmus, though he has to chase down the mutt first. Then he tells Hilary good-bye, promising he'll come back someday, but thinking at the same time thinking that nothing is the same anymore.

Back at the Project, the Gene-Gnome convinces Dubbilex that he's the only friend the D.N.Alien has anymore, as Dub has been reading the minds of everyone at the Project and sensing that they all hate him. He doesn't want to believe it, but then a squad of troops attack Dub, supposedly per Guardian's order. Dub decides that the Gene-Gnome is right and it's time to take a stand.
