Trivia

• The episode name is a reference to the failed movie Superman Lives, in production in 1997-98. Kevin Smith wrote a screenplay based on The Death of Superman and pitched it to producer Jon Peters. Smith was also the director of this episode. The Thanagarian Snare Beasts mentioned by Mon-El is also a reference to the giant spider Peters wanted Smith to include Superman fighting in the third act.
  • Smith's daughter; Harley Quinn Smith, portrayed the character Izzy Williams in this episode.
