Superman gives Lois Lane three chances to learn his secret identity, by taking her to three past eras, having her stand in for a famous woman of history, and challenging her to guess what secret identity he will assume in that era. If Lois guesses correctly once, Superman will reveal his present-day secret identity. But even though Lois guesses her best while subbing for Helen of Troy, Cinderella, and Florence Nightingale, she cannot deduce Superman's identities and thus loses her chance to learn who Superman secretly is.
