Lois is invited by Dr Price to participate in an experiment at the nuclear institute. The experiment results in an explosion which transforms both Lois and Dr Price into reptilian like creatures. Lois and Dr Price recover from their injuries and attempt to go about their daily lives as reptilians while the public looks on in sympathy. In the meantime it is revealed that the real Lois Lane is actually being held prisoner in a house near Metropolis. Lois observes the news and sees that an she is being impersonated by a reptilian Lois Lane. She escapes from her guard by feeding her sleeping pills and sets out to investigate why she was kidnapped.
Lois disguises herself to resemble the reptilian girl and immediately contacts her sister Lucy. She tells Lucy she is being impersonated and they both set out to investigate. They observe the reptilian couple sitting in front of a building as a tiny spaceship freezes the both of them and miniaturizes them before carrying them away. Lois and Lucy are relieved that their strange adventure is over. Lois heads back to the Daily Planet where she finds the reptilian girl sitting at her desk. A few moments later, the reptilian Dr Price walks in. The reptilians the take off their disguises and reveal themselves to be Superman and Supergirl.
Superman recounts how a tiny spaceship crashed into the Fortress of Solitude. The dying pilot was named Yarr from the planet Tang. Yarr explains that he belongs to a band of space pirates that kidnap scientists from other dimensions to assist them in raids. He goes on to explain that they wish to abduct Dr Price from Earth. He also explains that Superman's power would be cut in half if he travelled to Tang. Superman recruits Supergirl to help him as he assumes the guise of Dr Price. Since Supergirl is involved they involve a clueless Lois Lane to participate in the experiment to fool the space pirates with their reptilian transformation. When the pirates show up to kidnap Dr Price and Lois they are unaware that they are really kidnapping the disguised Superman and Supergirl. The two heroes easily subdue the pirates and turn them over to the authorities.
