Superman's Girl Friend, Lois Lane (Volume 1) with a cover date of November, 1968.
Synopsis for "Through a Murderer's Eyes!"
Lois is working on a story at the Metropolis Seeing Eye Institute when a hitman appears and attempts to murder her. Jimmy Olsen is able to subdue the killer before he can make a second attempt but Lois suffers an injury to her eyes when the bullet grazes her cornea. Her vision becomes blurred and Lois is taken to an eye doctor where Dr Wade determines that her condition might be permanent. Lois attempts to hide her situation from Superman and co-workers but Superman is able to see for himself that Lois is having difficulty with her vision. Lois is forced to confess that an attempt was made on her life to prevent her from testifying at a trial for mobster Nero Cary. At one point Lois is almost abducted by Nero's henchmen as she walks a dog down the sidewalk but Superman shows up and readily rescues her. Lois returns to Dr Wade and he determines that Lois is in need of a cornea transplant. He determines that with Supermans help, they can obtain a cornea donor from the local eye bank. Superman obtains the donors body and rushes it to the hospital for the transplant operation. Lois is shocked to learn that the doner is Gunner Stowe a trigger man for the underworld. He had recently been executed at the state pen and wanted to donate his body to science. The operation proceeds and Lois is able to see clearly but she soon starts to hallucinate. She begins to see the faces of people who seem to have a look of terror on them. Lois does some research and determines that the faces she has been seeing belong to victims who were killed by Gunner Stowe. Lois begins to wonder if she is experiencing these visions because she is using the killers corneas. Lois proceeds to testify at Neros trial. As she sits on the stand she begins to experience another vision. This time she views her own face that seems to have a look of terror on it. Lois confidently announces that she can explain her behavior to the court. She asks for a viewing screen and begins to explain that Dr Wade had implanted fake lenses in her eyes to make her think she was experiencing visions. Her blurry eyesight was only temporary but the lenses made her believe that she was looking at visions from a killers past. Superman then appears with a fake Dr Wade in tow and explains that the real Dr Wade was kidnapped and replaced with one of Nero's henchmen. The entire plot was created to discredit Lois from being a credible witness at Nero's trial. Lois had discovered the plot when she researched and found that Gunner Stowe always shot his victims in the back and it would not have been possible for him to see his victim's faces.
