Synopsis for "The Boy Who Hoaxed Superman"

When Jimmy asks Perry White for a raise, Perry refuses, pointing out all the spelling mistakes Jimmy has made recently. Jimmy is upset by this because he feels that Perry has forgotten about all the super-scoops that he had gotten for the paper. Deciding to get back at Perry, he gets an idea to hoax being put in suspended animation by Professor Dekker, and instead of himself being frozen in a block of ice (not to be thawed out until the 30th Century) Jimmy substitutes himself with a life like dummy of himself constructed by Superman.
With everyone fooled, Jimmy takes on the guise of "Gilbert Knox" and gets his job at the Daily Planet in a bid to show up Perry White. Jimmy intends to be a complete dud as a Cub reporter, however Superman learns of the deception and decides to make "Gilbert" look good, to foil Jimmy's plans. Eventually "Gilbert" gets the raise that Jimmy always wanted, and Jimmy decides to keep this identity. However, Superman makes it so that the cryogenic experiment begins to melt prompting Jimmy to quit his job as Gilbert and resume his place as Jimmy Olsen so as not to be exposed. Returning to his job at the Daily Planet, Perry lets Jimmy have his old job back at his original salary, much to Jimmy's chagrin.

Synopsis for "The Super-Lad of Space!"
This story is reprinted from Superman's Pal, Jimmy Olsen #39.
During a televised missile launch, Jimmy Olsen stows away aboard the rocket that is about to be thrown into space by Superman. The thrown rocket lands on the distant planet Zolium, where to Jimmy's surprise he has been endowed with super-powers the same as Superman. Deciding that he will become a super hero like Superman, Jimmy dubs himself Superlad and puts on the disguise to conceal his Jimmy Olsen identity.
However, when he comes across some Zoliums riding horses they greet him by his name, to which he considers a fluke. Walking to a major city, Jimmy spots meteors about to crash down upon it and changes into his Superman costume and saves the day, publicly introducing himself as Superlad. With the threat of the meteors over, Superlad is thanked for all his help and given a key to the city. When Superlad inquires about how they know how to speak English they reveal that they have been watching the Earth and know all about Superman's adventures.
Jimmy then tries to settle into a normal life on Zolum, by posing as a farmer. When a giant twelve-legged mole attacks their underground garden, Jimmy changes into Superlad and fights it off. Changing back into his farmer's disguise, the farmers greet him once more as Jimmy Olsen, prompting him to take up another occupation to try and shield his true identity.
Jimmy tries time and time again with different professions, from sailor, to soldier to police officer. Answering dangers as Superlad, and then changing back into his civilian disguise only to be outed once again as Jimmy Olsen. When Superman finally finds Jimmy and brings him home, Jimmy relates to the hard time he had keeping his true identity secret. Superman then tells Jimmy that to do so would have been impossible on the planet Zolum, as all the people who live there are telepaths.

Synopsis for "The Wolf-Man of Metropolis!"
This story is reprinted from Superman's Pal, Jimmy Olsen #44.
After a date with Lucy Lane, Jimmy tries to get some more kisses out of the girl, however she stops him and tells him that he'll get more the following night at the masquerade ball. The next day, Superman arrives at the Daily Planet with a casket that he found in an ancient crypt that contains magic potions. Left alone with the items, Jimmy and Lois dig around inside it and see what they can find. Jimmy finds that only one of the potions, that which would curse whomever drinks it into becoming a werewolf each night until he is kissed by a beautiful girl. Jimmy, figuring that this will be the ultimate masquerade costume and that he could easily get Lucy to kiss him at the end of the night, drinks the potion.
Sure enough, the potion works and Jimmy takes Lucy to the ball, with Lucy dressed up as Little Red Riding Hood. Jimmy ends up winning first prize at the party and when he takes Lucy home he tries to get a kiss from her. When she tells him to take off his "mask" he realizes that he's stuck and flees the scene. When Lucy tells Lois about what happened, Lois wonders if the potion really worked. However, when Lois sees Jimmy the next day he has reverted back to normal. Jimmy meanwhile is trying to contrive a way to avoid being seen before turning into a werewolf again.
However, things don't work out quite so well for poor Jimmy, as he is stuck taking Lucy and Lois along with him to cover a story about a new monster movie being filmed at Mammoth Studios. When the moon rises Jimmy turns into a werewolf again and is pulled aside and offered a job in the movie. Jimmy asks for a ridiculous amount of pay and is thrown out. When he attempts to get a girl to kiss him the following night by offering her his entire savings, he earns nothing but a slap in the face. Jimmy then calls Superman for help who agrees to try and get the antidote for him.
The next day, Jimmy is in the flying newsroom when a gust of wind prevents Jimmy from being able to land on the Daily Planet building. With the helicopter low on fuel Jimmy is forced to land on another building. He then attempts to call Superman, but realizes that his Signal-Watch has been broken. To his misery, as night falls he turns into a werewolf again and gets laughed at by a family and Lois and Lucy. Lucy tells Jimmy that he has to stop with the werewolf stunts otherwise she will cancel their date for the next night.
Superman finally pulls through and has an antidote for Jimmy, however the girl who ends up kissing Olsen is a mystery to Jim. He is cured none the less, and completely unaware that Superman got his cousin Supergirl to kiss Jimmy for him. Later that night, Jimmy keeps his date with Lucy, however he's more interested to know the identity of the mystery woman who cured him and wonders if he will ever meet that mystery woman ever again.

Synopsis for "The Boy in Superman's Body!"
This story is reprinted from Superman #111.
Superman brings back a souvenir of a dead civilization on Saturn to Earth. It proves to be a "mentality exchanger" which transfers his mind into the body of Jimmy Olsen, and vice versa. Before the two can restore their minds to their usual bodies, Jimmy has interesting adventures in Superman's powerful body, and Superman experiences what it is like to be a non-powered human.

Synopsis for "The Giant Turtle Man!"
This story is reprinted from Superman's Pal, Jimmy Olsen #53.
Jimmy discovers a strange chest on the beach which contains an enlarging ray. He accidently hits a turtle with the ray and with the turtle acting as a filter, the ray strikes Jimmy as well. He is transformed into a giant turtle man and falls under the influence of Goxo, an Atlantean criminal who invented the growth ray.
Jimmy becomes a menace to the sea lanes, breaking bridges and destroying ships. He then stuffs the broken objects into an active volcano. Superman is able to stop him and uses Brainiac's shrink ray to restore Jimmy to normal, while Lori Lemaris informs them of Goxo's involvement.

Synopsis for "The Elastic Lad of Metropolis!"
This story is reprinted from Superman's Pal, Jimmy Olsen #37.
Jimmy, Perry, Lois and Clark are rehearsing a play called "Woo-Woo Wooing of Hocapontas!" for the Daily Planet's annual varieties show. During the rehearsal Lois gives Jimmy and Clark a drink out of a bottle from Jimmy's desk. After the rehearsal, Jimmy is shocked to find that his body is now mailable as an elastic, much to the surprise of everyone.
Suddenly, Professor Potter enters the room and explains that Jimmy must have drank the bottle of a synthetic serum that he made that makes people elastic. When Lois points out that Clark hasn't been effected by the serum, the Professor wishes to examine Clark. Clark deflects the question and ducks out of the office quickly so that he can change into Superman and make his appearance at the Metropolis ballpark to put on a pre-game exhibit to entertain the crowd.
Surprisingly, Jimmy has shown up wearing an "Elastic Lad" costume and grabs a ball that Superman has knocked out of the park. When Superman meets up with Jimmy he agrees to let the boy show off his new elastic powers. Jimmy next agrees to help test out a new cannon and is accidentally launched in an experimental rocket. The speed of the rocket causes Jimmy to pass out, but he is unharmed when the rocket crashes. Jimmy wakes up and finds himself far away from Metropolis and begins his long walk back into town.
When he runs into some cowboys, they think he's an alien and try to capture him, however Jimmy uses his stretching powers to escape from them. Returning to Metropolis, Jimmy pays a visit to Professor Potter to discuss why Clark had avoided an x-ray. Potter theorizes that Clark's immunity to the serum could mean that he is really Superman. However they are called outside by Clark who apparently has manifested the ability to stretch. In reality, Clark has created a gigantic mirror that has warped his image to create the illusion that he's stretched his body, so that later when the serums effects wear off on Jimmy nobody suspects that Clark is really Superman.

Synopsis for "The Mystery of the Tiny Supermen!"
This story is reprinted from Superman's Pal, Jimmy Olsen #48.
Jimmy Olsen, at various meetings of his fan club, shows the members several alien artifacts which were given to him by Superman. At the same time, a group of tiny Supermen (actually the Superman Emergency Squad from Kandor, of which Jimmy is ignorant) appear to him and aid him in his daily tasks, but only when nobody else is around. When he tries to convince Perry White that the little Supermen really exist, Perry thinks Jimmy's gone nuts. What the Emergency Squad is really after is an alien ray-gun in Jimmy's collection with Supergirl's fingerprints on it. They fear the prints could somehow expose her existence, but they also mistake a fake Green Kryptonite meteor in Jimmy's collection for the real thing, and have to trick him into bringing the ray-gun to work with him before they can take it away from him. Superman, at this time, is in the past on a scientific mission and could not be contacted by the Kandorians. They take the ray-gun to Supergirl, who erases her prints with heat-vision. Then the tiny Supermen return the weapon to Jimmy and fly back to Kandor before anyone else can see them. Later, Jimmy wonders if it hasn't all been a dream.

Synopsis for "The Boy Witch Doctor!"
This story is reprinted from Superman's Pal, Jimmy Olsen #58.
When the Daily Planet crew go to Meteor Island to cover the filming of a new jungle movie there, Jimmy Olsen tries on a voodoo priest's outfit and learns that when he jabs the effigy of one of his fellow reporters with a pin, the reporter feels pain.
