Synopsis for "Mystery of the Canine Champ"
After Jimmy Olsen once more hands in a story rife with spelling errors, Perry decides to stick Jimmy with the task of being the Daily Planets Pet Editor until he can get a good scoop about pets. While at a pet show, Jimmy witnesses the "Canine Champ" who's owner claims is the smartest dog in the world. When Jimmy notices the dog has a gold filling, he asks to take the dogs picture, however someone throws a brick in a nearby puddle splashing the water onto the cameras lens ruining the shot.
Watching the owners televised event later, Jimmy witnesses the Canine Champ lift weights, ride a trapeze, play the piano, do math problems and most amazingly, free itself from being tied up. Once again trying to get a picture of the dog, someone again goes out of their way to obscure Jimmy's shot. Finding dog biscuit crumbs, Jimmy decides to follow the lead. Taking a disguise he sneaks into a dog biscuit factory. There he find that there are a group of men training different dogs with one specific task. When trying to take a picture of this fraud, Jimmy is spotted, however Jimmy manages to evade capture when he sends the dogs into a feeding frenzy when he tosses a handful of dog biscuits at the crooks.
This gives Jimmy enough time to signal Superman for help, who quickly rounds up the fraudsters. Later, Jimmy publishes the story in the Daily Planet, but once again makes spelling mistakes on the headline, much to Perry's chagrin.

During the meeting, Jimmy accidentally drinks the serum as well and soon finds that he's been given super-speed as well.
As usual, Jimmy revels in this new power, however he finds out that using it is not as easy as it looks. While speeding after some crooks to get a story for the Planet, he ends up rear-ending their car with his bike and has to be rescued by Superman. When Jimmy uses his super-speed to flip through evidence, he finds a way to indict criminal "Diamond" Dirk, and decides to use his super-speed as a means of getting Dirk to fire his gun to match a bullet the police are trying to match.
Calling Dirk to the Planet, Jimmy entices the crook to fire his gun, however Jimmy realizes to his horror that the super-speed serum has worn off just as Dirk fires his gun. Quick thinking, Clark Kent uses his own super-speed to save Jimmy's life, and quickly empties the vial of serum that Claude sent to him earlier, claiming to the others that he drank it so that he doesn't expose his secret identity of Superman.
