Synopsis for "The Fastest Gun in the West"

Jimmy Olsen is sent on assignment to the city of Tumbleweed to cover the country-western themed town's annual "Big Show", to find that the town is terrorized by an authentic wild west desperado, Gunsmoke Gus. When Gunsmoke guns down the local sheriff and takes over the town, Jimmy decides to do something about it.

Buying his own set of western clothing and a pair of sidearms, Jimmy is determined to avenge the Sheriff's death and save the people of Tumbleweed from Gus's reign of terror. Jimmy's first attempt to stop Gus is met with laughter and Jimmy being forced to "dance" out of the Saloon, with orders to show up in the town square at high noon for a draw. Jimmy shows up as ordered, however before Gunsmoke Gus can gun down Jimmy, Superman arrives in the neck of time and easily defeats Gunsmoke.

After Gunsmoke has been turned over to the police, Superman explains he came to get Jimmy when Perry White realized that he sent Jimmy to the wrong town, Jimmy was supposed to go to the town of TumbleWOOD instead of TumbleWEED. When Jimmy is excited to go he is briefly spooked when he hears more gun shots, but calms himself when he realizes it's just a child playing with toys.

Synopsis for "The Man Who Collected Excitement"

When Jimmy Olsen is called on the scene of a house fire, Jimmy notices a man taking photographs of the emergency, when the fire appears to be too much, Jimmy calls Superman to save the rest of the people from the burning building. Later they realize that the situation was a bit of a hoax as the fire was a burning pile of leaves which someone threw oil onto to make even more smokier than usual. When other reporters arrive and learn the truth, they blame Jimmy for orchestrating it to get the scoop before they did.

Later, what appears to be a UFO lands on a rooftop and as expected, this causes another panic. Jimmy and Jumbo Jones arrive in the Daily Planet flying newsroom to capture the event. It turns out to be another hoax, and the same man is seen on the scene taking photos of the excitement. When the police become suspicious of Jimmy as well, Jimmy decides to check out the strange shutter bug and see what he has to do with anything. Disguising himself, he visits the man who is the head of the Metropolis Camera Club. The man reveals that he collects photographs of scenes of excitement, and that recently he's been getting phone tips where he can show up and capture his true love on film.

Realizing there is some third party behind all of this, Jimmy and Jumbo are waiting for the next distaster: A flood caused by a broken dam. As Superman is busy repairing the damage, and saving lives, Jimmy and Jumbo find the source of the disasters: A group of crooks who use the distractions in order to commit robberies in all the confusion. After knocking the crooks out, Jimmy turns them over to Superman to hand over to the police.
