Synopsis for "Jimmy Olsen, Orphan!"

With reports of a flood in the town of Martinsdale, and Superman away on a mission in space, Perry White sends Jimmy Olsen to cover the story. While there, Jimmy risks his life to save the life of a cat that is caught in the rapids however, he suffers a blow to the head and is struck with amnesia. Taken to the Midvale Orphanage, Jimmy is dubbed "Tom Davis" by the superintendent. When Supergirl (in her civilian guise of Linda Lee) recognizes Jimmy, she decides to try to make Jimmy remember who he is without revealing her secret identity to him.

As Supergirl helps people in secret, her civilian guises sudden disappearances and reappearances attract "Tom's" suspicion and when listening to a story about "Little Red Riding Hood" briefly remembers his adventure when he was turned into a wolf man. That night Jimmy's memory returns and he decides to stick around as "Tom Davis" for a while longer in order to write an exclusive piece for the Daily Planet, he confides this secret to Linda, who decides that she'll keep a close eye on Jimmy to keep him out of trouble.

Without fail, trouble follows Jimmy when a family attempts to adopt him, however Supergirl secretly uses her super-powers to warp the perceptions of the potential adoptive parents and they reject Jimmy when they think he's fat. Later when Jimmy is playing baseball with the other children, the ball lands near the secret tree where Supergirl's Linda Lee robot is hidden. Realizing that he may discover her true identity, she creates a large wand to activate his Superman signal watch prompting Superman to arrive at the orphanage. Realizing what may happen if he leaves Jimmy to his own devices, Superman covers for Supergirl by telling the cub reporter that Perry has a new assignment for him and takes him back to Metropolis.
