Synopsis for "The Boy from Mars"
This story is reprinted from Superman's Pal, Jimmy Olsen #27.
Jimmy Olsen concocts another wild scheme in an effort to advance his career at the Daily Planet. He begins telling everyone that he is actually an alien from the planet, Mars. Jimmy's plan backfires however when Perry White accuses him of Martian espionage. Agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation arrest Jimmy and put him through a battery of tests to determine whether or not he is lying. As it turns out, Jimmy appears to truly be from Mars. Superman arrives to take Jimmy back to his home planet. He later tells Jimmy that he had the FBI's tests rigged to fail in the hopes of teaching Jimmy a valuable lesson about playing such outlandish pranks.

Synopsis for "Jimmy Olsen, Prince of Clowns"
This story is reprinted from Superman's Pal, Jimmy Olsen #12.
Jimmy Olsen is covering a story about Joe King and his son Tad, who are a father and son clown act that performs for the Metropolis circus. This is their big night where they are unveiling their act, however, when Tad injures himself, Jimmy secretly takes Tad's place so that the show doesn't get canceled.
Observing with the audience, Clark Kent realizes that "Tad" is really Jimmy in disguise and that somebody has been sabotaging the clown props. After secretly using his super-powers to turn the sabotaging into a function act, Clark decides to investigate as Superman. Looking in Joe's diary, he learns that he doesn't want his son to follow in his footsteps for fear that his son would be a second-rate clown and that he had purposely sabotaged the props to discourage his son from following a career in clowning.
After a brief intermission where Jimmy goes backstage to touch up his greasepaint the show goes on. At the end of the show, Joe reveals that he figured out that "Tad" was really Jimmy in disguise and that he knows that Superman helped Jimmy out. However, to his surprise when "Jimmy" takes off his greasepaint it's really Tad. Tad and Jimmy reveal that they switched places again during the last act and that Tad pulled off all the clown stunts flawlessly on his own without Superman's help. Realizing how good his son is at clowning, Joe proudly encourages his son to continue his career.
After Jimmy publishes the story, he gets scolded by Perry White for all the spelling mistakes he made in the story.

Synopsis for "Lois Lane's Sister"
This story is reprinted from Superman's Pal, Jimmy Olsen #36.
Going to the Metropolis airport to meet up with Lois and Clark who are returning from a trip abroad, Jimmy meets Lois Lane's sister Lucy, who is a flight attendant for the same airline. Jimmy is instantly smitten by Lucy Lane. Taking Lucy to meet up with Lois and Clark, Jimmy tries to impress her by taking her to the Superman museum and talking about all the times Superman has flown her around. Lucy however is not the least bit impressed, and Jimmy takes her to the Daily Planet. There Lois suggests that the four of them go to dinner together.
At a Superman themed restaurant, Jimmy orders everyone a round of steaks, the most expensive item on the menu. This tips Clark off to the fact that Jimmy is falling for Lucy. After dinner, Jimmy asks Lucy on another date, and she tells him that she is busy until Saturday. When the couples part company, Clark goes along with Jimmy and lets the boy talk about his infatuation with the younger Lane sister. With his super-hearing overhears how Lucy is going to be on a flight with a famous rodeo star, whom she finds more interesting that Jimmy and hopes to set-up a date with so that she can cancel on Jimmy.
When Clark tips off Jimmy of this possibility, Jimmy decides to show Lucy that he too can as exciting as a rodeo star. Putting on a cowboy costume, Jimmy poses as "Tex Bolton" a Texas oil-man. There he attempts to upstage "Twirler" Thompson from wooing Lucy Lane. When "Tex" manages to captivate her attention, "Twirler" attempts to throw Jimmy off his game by tossing a dummy of himself out of the plane. When Jimmy attempts to lasso the supposed falling body, he gets secret help from Superman to pull up the body in a lasso, and Thompson's hoax is revealed and Lucy refuses to date Thompson.
When checking the flight back to Metropolis, Jimmy is worried that one of the inventors coming back from an Inventors Convention might attempt to woo her. Deciding to prevent this from happening, Jimmy purchases a robot costume to hatch his next scheme. When Lucy is initially showing interest in "Genius" Jones who is showing off his Thot-O-Printer, a device that prints photographs of your thoughts, Jimmy appears pretending to be a robot. However, when Jones calls Jimmy on the fact that he's really a person in a robot costume, Superman secretly steps in and tries to help Jimmy out. This doesn't fool "Genius" Jones in the slightest, and he unmasks Jimmy.
With the truth out, Jimmy admits to pulling this and the "Tex Bolten" impersonation as well as an attempt to get Lucy to keep her date with him. Touched that Jimmy would go through so much trouble over her, she promises to keep their date. That Saturday when their date ends, Jimmy proposes to Lucy. Lucy tells Jimmy that she would marry him only when her vow she made to her mother is upheld, that Lois gets married before she does. She then tells Jimmy that if he can convince Superman to marry Lois, she will gladly marry him.

Synopsis for "The Boy Superman"
This story is reprinted from Superman's Pal, Jimmy Olsen #14.
Returning from a report in the flying newsroom, Clark Kent realizes that the sleeve of his suit has been torn revealing his Superman costume underneath. In order to hide it from Lois, Superman stashes it in the helicopter. When Perry White sends Jimmy to cover a crime trial in another town, Jimmy rushes there in the flying newsroom. However, he gets caught in a fog patch while traveling across the mountains, damaging the copter and forcing him to land. Realizing that his signal watch is broken too, Jimmy decides to go to looking for help. With the weather cold, he can only find Superman's costume to keep him warm.
Finding a mountain town of rednecks, Jimmy is believed to be Superman, when trying to disprove himself, by trying to fail at super-feats, some whim of fate or coincidence happens that confirms the idea to the rednecks that Jimmy is Superman. When a local girl name Petunia's father allows her to marry the strongest man in the village, she chooses "Superman" earning the ire of Moose Morton the local strong man who challenges "Superman" in a duel for Petunia's love.
At this point, Clark has gone looking for Jimmy when he realizes the boy never met his destination. He flies over the town just as Moose and Jimmy are about to have their duel. The sight of seeing Clark Kent flying causes Moose to pass out and the people believe that Jimmy beat him in combat and force him to prepare to marry Petunia. Later, Moose revives and tries to get back at Jimmy. When Jimmy slips on a banana peel, Moose believe that he has a chunk of "Kricktynite" and Jimmy takes this a way out and lets Moose "run" him out of town. Having left the Superman costume behind, this allows Clark to steal it back and rescue Jimmy as the Man of Steel.

Synopsis for "Jimmy Olsen, The Bearded Boy"
This story is reprinted from Superman's Pal, Jimmy Olsen #23.
Jimmy Olsen is trying to get an exclusive story on a group called the Beard Band, a group of beard enthusiasts that meet in secret, however his fake beards fail to trick the members of the group and they bar him admittance. Jimmy is approached by a man who offers him a beard tonic to grow a real beard so that Jimmy can get into the exclusive club. This tonic apparently works, and Jimmy is able to get into the meeting. However, he learns it was all a trick orchestrated by the Beard Band, who wants to make beards more publicly acceptable, and that they will not give Jimmy the antidote unless he makes public appearances to boost their cause.
When Jimmy goes to the Daily Planet to explain this to Perry White, Perry refuses to believe it until he too takes the beard potion and grows a beard of his own, Clark also drank the potion, immune to it's effects due to his Kryptonian physiology, he makes a fake beard so as not to expose his secret identity. Jimmy's attempts to make beards more publicly acceptable backfire, and the angry Beard Band smashes the antidote for Jimmy's failure.
When they are about to drink a new version of the potion to increase the length of their beards, Jimmy cuts off part of his and tosses it into the chemical vat. This causes the chemical composition to change, and by total fluke, creates the antidote. With the Beard Band drinking the antidote, they are shocked to find their beards disappear. After Superman dismantles their chemical process, Jimmy takes some for himself and Perry as well.

Synopsis for "Miss Jimmy Olsen"
This story is reprinted from Superman's Pal, Jimmy Olsen #44.
While at work at the Daily Planet, Jimmy gets a call from Lucy Lane asking Jimmy to watch her dog Hamlet while she takes on a job for her airline when a co-worker of hers falls sick. Superman meanwhile goes off to his Fortress of Solitude in order to conduct some experiments, telling Jimmy that he won't be able to be reached.
That night Jimmy is out in midtown Metropolis when he spots ex-racketeer "Big Monte" McGraw who is suspected of being involved in a jewel heist recently. Jimmy decides to try and find evidence of the jewel heist and comes up with the idea of posing as a girl and getting a job in the chorus line at the theater that McGraw owns.
Coming up with the identity of Julie Ogden, Jimmy manages to get the job working in the chorus line. When McGraw pays special interest in "Ogden" Jimmy tells him that he is new in town and McGraw insists that "Julie" live with his girlfriend Maisie. Coincidentally Maisie lives in the same apartment building as Lucy Lane, making it easy for Jimmy to check on Lucy's dog and maintain his charade. Jimmy is introduced to Maisie's pet monkey Dora and is then ordered to cook supper.
When "Julie" ruins supper, Jimmy quickly covers by going over to Lucy's apartment to get what she thinks is hamburger and prepares a meal. As Maisie is sleeping, Jimmy snoops around the apartment to find the stolen jewels. The next morning when Lucy returns home she knocks on Maisie's door and asks if they have any pet food as her dog is starving and it turns out that there is no food left in the house. Overhearing this "Julie" becomes horrified as she realizes that what "she" cooked for supper was not hamburger, but dog food.
As his charade continues, Jimmy becomes the object of McGraw's affections much to the displeasure of Maisie. One night when McGraw attempts to get "Julie" to kiss him, Jimmy quickly gets Dora to plant a wet one on McGraw who is too busy in the moment with his eyes closed to realize he's kissing an ape. When going out on dates with McGraw yields no results, "Julie" feigns illness to search Maisie's apartment again. When McGraw hears that "Julie" is sick he decides to pay her a visit. Catching "Julie" going through the apartment, McGraw pulls a gun out and demands to know what's going on. It's at that moment McGraw finally notices that "Julie" has an Adams-apple and uncovers Jimmy's true identity. However, before McGraw can shoot Jimmy, Dora comes up from behind with a baseball bat and knocks McGraw out.
Later, when McGraw is turned over to the police, Jimmy and Superman go over the apartment one more time and find the stolen loot: each diamond was stuck onto a fan with pieces of gum. The reason Jimmy never noticed them before is because the fan was always running. Back at the Daily Planet, Jimmy's coworkers chide Jimmy for dressing up as a girl, however since he landed such a sensational scoop he takes it all on stride.

Synopsis for "The Jimmy Olsen Signal-Watch"
This story is reprinted from Superman's Pal, Jimmy Olsen #37.
As a gift for her birthday, Jimmy Olsen gives Lucy Lane her very own signal watch which would alert Jimmy whenever she needs him. Later that day, Jimmy is entertaining his fan club by displaying the various costumes that he's worn in his adventures with Superman.
When dressed up in a caveman's loin cloth Jimmy tells a tale about his discovery of a lost valley complete with cave people and a fire breathing dragon and how he called Superman in to help. As he finishes the tale, Jimmy gets a call on his signal watch from Lucy. Jimmy rushes across the city in his caveman outfit to learn that all Lucy wanted was to get him to teach some children to kick a football. The bare-footed Jimmy completely fails at the task and Lucy walks away in a huff, telling Jimmy that he's embarrassed them both.
Returning to his fan club, Jimmy changes into a devil costume he wore during Mardi Gras, he explains the during that escapade, there was a fire that would break out and Jimmy would summon Superman to put it out. Once again, Jimmy is called by Lucy and rushes off to meet her in costume. There he finds that Lucy's uncle is showing off a new inflatable raft to airline officials. During the demonstration Jimmy accidentally loses his footing and the pitch-fork from his costume punctures a hole in the raft, sending Jimmy, Lucy and her uncle into the water and spoiling the business deal.
Returning back to his club, Jimmy puts on a suit of armor that Jimmy worse to protect himself from armed robbers who were trying to steal some royal crystal wear until Superman could show up. Once again, Jimmy is called by Lucy who wants him to be the model in a photo shoot that advertises her airline company. When Jimmy finds himself stuck in the suit of armor, Lucy has to settle with the hired model. Fed up with the signal watch, Lucy gives it back and cancels their date for the night.
However, that evening she changes her mind and asks Jimmy to come out to a costume ball. When he arrives, he is so fed up with wearing costumes, he decides to come dressed as himself.
