Synopsis for "The Big Noise, Part 1: Rumble Face"

Anderson Gaines finds an escape pod in the Himalayas, and something inside replaces him.

Six months later in Gotham City, Batman ambushes Death-Man — for the third time. And he dies again, seeking to use his "death" gimmick to escape punishment. Superman interupts — he needs to speak with Batman about the derelict Kryptonian warship that jettisoned an escape pod containing an unknown being. Something has come to Earth, and the Batcomputer helps establish that it's a shape-shifter.

In Metropolis, Clark Kent and Jimmy Olsen meet Anderson Gaines at S.T.A.R. Labs. Both Clark and Gaines seem to know that other is not what they seem.

While Clark and a few other night-owls type up their stories, the floor of the Daily Planet detonates — NRG-X has been paid to turn the Daily Planet reporters into scorched earth. His second blast obliterates everything left standing, except Superman, who has already rescued the rest of the staff. Now he stands, ready to strike back.
