Synopsis for "Hawk"

Clark and Lana are studying French for their finals in a diner, until Pete comes to pick Clark up in his new car. Before Clark leaves, Lana invites him to her house, as her parents are out of town.

Meanwhile, a group of armed robbers arrive at a gas station and begin killing people.

Later, Clark and Pete drink beer with their friend Kenny at a tranquil neighborhood. Pete and Kenny begin teasing Clark about his powers, much to Clark's discomfort; until Sheriff Parker arrives and asks Clark and Pete to come with him. He tells them some of their acquaintances have been killed in the shootout. Pete's uncle saw what happened and he is not feeling well, so Pete has to take him home. With an officer killed, the U.S. Marshals take over the case and Sheriff Parker asks Clark to talk to them if he knows something. Clark uses his X-ray vision to inspect the gas station but remains silent.

During the ride to Pete's house, Uncle Howie feels horrified for letting all those people in the gas station and berates himself for being a coward. Clark feels unsure about what to do, but Pete asks him to do something about the robbers, asking him what he would do if the victims where his parents or even him.

The group of criminals then takes a household hostage. One of them, Owen, is angry that his parents kicked him out and wants some payback. Clark gets to the house and attempts to reason with Owen, but gets shot. The bullet only causes minor damage and Clark throws Owen several feet away. Another gunman shoots Clark, triggering his heat vision. The beams melt away his gun and incinerates his arms. The last robber holds a girl at knife-point and threatens to kill her unless Clark lets her leave, but Pete knocks her out with a shovel.

Later, Sheriff Parker berates Clark for his reckless actions. He could have been killed and the criminals are left in intensive care. Clark returns home, where his mother reprimands him as well. While Clark apologizes for what happened, he expresses fear for what could have happened to the family if he hadn't interfered. On the rooftop, Clark promises to never do something like that again and Martha tells him he is not a monster. He is a wish that came true. They both watch the sunrise together.
