Superman: The Man of Steel #115 is an issue of the series Superman: The Man of Steel (Volume 1) with a cover date of August, 2001.
Synopsis for "Metropolitan Rapture"
In Metropolis, a number of apparently sleeping people are being bathed in a green light. Meanwhile, Clark Kent, who is among those being abducted by the green light, is waking up and wondering what has happened. As the hundreds of people around him wake up, they land on a foreign floor somewhere. Confused, some believe that it is the rapture which starts more than a few fights within the confused mass. Clark finds a large column near the center of the room and climbs it. He realizes that there are millions of people in the room. He scans the area using his x-ray and telescopic vision and finds Lois, Maggie Sawyer, and Jimmy Olsen, along with many other Metropolis citizens trying to keep order.
Clark climbs down and makes his way though the crowd to find Lois. He tells her that he had to go and find out who abducted all of Metropolis' citizens and she needed to organize her fellow citizens. As he is telling her where she could find the people he had seen from the column, their apparent alien captors showed up, demanding all city officials and metahumans to present themselves. Saying that he believed they were in a prison camp, Clark left Lois to find the alien leaders.
Clark eventually finds a wall, and tears it open to enter a maintenance corridor. He is surprised to find an alien, and he knocks the alien out to take his uniform as a disguise. However, he notices that he was in an airlock and outside the ship there was no sign of Earth. Suddenly, a security patrol finds him and he realizes he would have trouble.
Back in the holding cell, Lois finds Maggie Sawyer and Jimmy Olsen. Although there is some in-fighting among the people, Lois takes control and tells the aliens that they will need to provide some basic human needs. Because she is the first reasonable person to speak, the aliens tell her that she will speak for all of Metropolis. Back in the airlock, Superman is now fighting an alien horde. Realizing that they are all wearing space suits and would not die, he uses his heat vision to open up the airlock. The aliens continue to fire at him and open a breach in the hull. Realizing that he is endangering the ship, he heals it with his heat vision and knows he must do something else.
Back inside the ship, a group consisting of Maxima, Massacre, Grayven, Mongal, Starfire, and Adam Strange greet him. Thinking that they are behind some conspiracy to attack the Earth, he readies to fight them. However, they stop him, claiming that Imperiex is coming and they needed Metropolis clear of citizens. Still unbelieving, Superman almost begins to fight them, when Adam Strange teleports him one hundred trillion light years away to where Maxima's home planet of Almerac once was. In its place, however, was just empty space. Adam Strange explains that Imperiex did this and it was urgent that they save the Earth from the same fate. He then teleports Superman back to Earth after promising him that his friends will be taken care of on the ship and taking a secret message to Lois.
In Metropolis, Superman realizes that the city is under an occupation of an alien force. With a large BOOM the planet of Apokolips appears above the city. Superman then knows that the commander of the alliance could only be Darkseid.
