Superman: The Man of Steel #31 is an issue of the series Superman: The Man of Steel (Volume 1) with a cover date of March, 1994.
Synopsis for "Obsessions!"
A group of failed experiments from Project Cadmus, the Underworlders are slowly being poisoned and dying off after the recent flooding of their home. Suspecting germ warfare initiated by Cadmus, a group led by Clawster vows to attack and destroy Cadmus. Charlie Dawson disagrees and decides to kidnap Dr. Westfield, in hopes of getting Cadmus to stop what they are doing.
Superman returns from space and has a happy reunion with Lois. Their reunion is short lived however, as Underworlds are causing havoc all over Metropolis in an effort to keep Superman busy, while they attack Cadmus. Westfield pleads with Charlie telling him that Cadmus had nothing to do with the diseases that are spreading through Underworld, and promises to help them fight against the plague. Charlie believes him, but suddenly Clawster arrives with the rest of the angry Underworlders, as well as the Guardian and some Cadmus soldiers. A fight breaks out! Charlie shields Westfield from some gun fire and dies. Superman arrives and tries to defuse the situation. He says he will get Professor Hamilton to look into the plague, and if Cadmus is involved he will take appropriate action.
Lex Luthor hears of the plague spreading through the clones in Underworld. As he himself is a clone he is worried, especially as he is losing his hair!
