Superman: The Man of Steel #33 is an issue of the series Superman: The Man of Steel (Volume 1) with a cover date of May, 1994.

Synopsis for "Under Siege!"

Guardian and the Project Cadmus troops attempt to stop the Underworlders attack. Superman has swelled to an enormous size, the latest development with his out-of-control powers. He asks Lois Lane to call Cadmus in advance for help.

Lois finds her integrity compromised by a bogus article published in her name in place of her expose on Lex Luthor, Jr.'s role in the fate of Sasha Green (and the revelation that he is actually a clone of the original Luthor). Both Paul Westfield and Mayor Berkowitz refuse to take Lois seriously.

At Cadmus, Westfield uses the Parasite to drain off Superman's excess energy. The Parasite escapes before the power can then be siphoned from him. The Guardian immediately tries to stop the villain, and Superman soon joins the fray. Since the Parasite is continuing to drain power from the Man of Steel, is not an easy battle for the hero. The Parasite claims the life of a brave Cadmus guard who tries to intervene on Superman's behalf.

Finally, Superman is rocketed into space by Cadmus in the hope of distancing himself from the sun. Lois is framed for drunk driving, and Luthor secret escalates the war with the Underworlders by offering Clawster weapons.
