Superman: World of New Krypton #2 is an issue of the series Superman: World of New Krypton (Volume 1) with a cover date of June, 2009.

Synopsis for "World of New Krypton (Part II)"

On Oa, the Guardians discuss the presence of the Kryptonians on Kandor. They remember the time when the Kryptonians sought expansion, and are concerned with Superman being but a single soldier in the military guild instead of being a leader. The Guardians agree that Hal Jordan must be sent to see if the Green Lantern Corps will be needed to intervene, but wonder if that will be enough.

General Zod introduces Kal-El to his unit. He also shows them their new state of the art weaponry. Kal-El bristles at this, but takes advantage of the opportunities that his rank provides him.

Superman later flies to the capital city to visit his aunt, Alura. They ruminate about her widow, Zor-El, and Superman meets with young Tyr-Van. Supergirl also stops by to visit, but doesn't tell her cousin about her secret mission on Earth.

Superman then leads his military unit on a mission to corral a herd of wild thought beasts whose stampede threatens a Sunstone plant. Superman shows them that they can satisfy their mission objectives without resorting to wholesale slaughter. General Zod perceives this tactic as a weakness, but cannot deny Superman's results.

When he gets back to the main city, he learns that the Kryptonian labor guild has laid siege to the capitol and taken hostages, including Alura. They are demanding more humane representation and a restructuring of current guild law. In retaliation, Commander Gor of the military guild takes his own hostages from the labor guild. He issues a demand that unless Alura In-Ze is released within sixty thribs (seconds), he will kill all the hostages.
