Synopsis for "The Metal Curtain: Chapter One"
In 1951, in the wake of planet Krpyton's destruction, a piece of Kryptonite was hurled to Earth and crash landed into a barn in Baruta, USSR.
Decades later, at the docks in Metropolis, Lois Lane stumbles upon an illegal arms sale involving United States soldiers led by a Colonel Evers. Lois then accidentally reveals her hiding place and the soldiers catches her and her tape recorder destroyed. Evers then has her tied up and put on a boat, in which he send it directly to a cargo ship. Fortunately, she is saved by Superman, who then quickly saves the sinking cargo ship caused by the boat by using his heat-vision to seal the hole.
The next day at the Daily Planet, Lois is unable to convince Perry White to publish her story on the illegal arms sale due to lack of evidence. Clark Kent sides with Perry, but he still believes Lois should not give up on her story. Left frustrated, Lois can only continue her investigation by finding the only other witness at the illegal arms sale: Superman.
In Moscow, "Colonel Evers" burns his American uniform and resumes his real identity of Morosov. He then meets with Captain Nikolaev, a veteran of the Vietnam and Afghanistan wars, and shows him the piece of Kryptonite recovered in 1951 that will power an advanced armored suit that was purchased in America; he explains to Nikolaev that he is chosen to wear this suit, to become the "ultimate Soviet soldier" to destroy Superman, whom the Soviets see him as an American threat. Captain Nikolaev is given the identity of "Metallo".
