Synopsis for "Last Daughter of Argo"

Kara dreams of the day Krypton was destroyed, pushing Argo out of orbit, and the aftermath eventually leading her and her family to be frozen inside cryo chambers. When she wakes up, she is disoriented until Superman explains to her how he found her on Argo. However, Kara wakes up from the nightmare again, and Ma and Pa Kent comfort her.

Through a series of diary entries, Kara records her accustomization to Earth and her desire to help the world. She recounts her first day as Supergirl[1] and how her nightmares are getting worse.

When Superman leaves for a weekend, Kanto attacks Metropolis but is stopped by Supergirl.

Enraged by the failure, Granny Goodness releases General Zod from the Phantom Zone, who then frees Jax-Ur and Mala to help him kill Superman and Supergirl. They attack Supergirl, who then fakes her death, leaving the three to wreak havoc on Metropolis.

Supergirl returns with Kryptonite, but flees to the Fortress of Solitude after she realizes Zod is immune to it, since he is also Argoan. Zod follows her, but is pushed into the pen of an Argoan creature which has an artificial red sun, and Supergirl sends him back to the Phantom Zone along with Jax-Ur and Mala.

After, Clark returns and together Supergirl plans to visit Argo, ready to face her past fears and her future.

Notes

Trivia

  • This issue erroneously depicts Supergirl being invulnerable to Kryptonite, yet various animated depictions in the DCAU show her susceptibility to it.
  • Supergirl dresses her cat Streaky in a cape, which is a reference to Streaky gaining superpowers in previous comics.
  • Granny Goodness is shown to be wearing a wig over her very little hair.
  • Supergirl refers to Jax-Ur and Mala as the fictional characters, Dick and Jane.
