Superman Adventures #27 is an issue of the series Superman Adventures (Volume 1) with a cover date of January, 1999.
Synopsis for "How Much Can One Man Hate?"
Superman returns a pair of killer androids sent to kill him from Lex Luthor, asking why he keeps attacking Superman. Luthor denies his involvement, and checks how much money Superman cost him today. He visits a new statue of the man of steel, to devise another scheme.
At a subway station, Superman arrives just in time to see the Parasite being apprehended by a new, similar superhero calling himself "Superior-Man". The look-alike asserts that he is stronger than Superman and is here to replace him as the hero of Metropolis.
Over time, Superior-Man defeats countless villains and is endorsed by Luthor, reducing Superman to carrying out lesser deeds. Superior-Man confronts Superman, then starts attacking him with kryptonite-vision. Superman throws a car at him, revealing him to be Metallo, who is disoriented and enraged at Luthor for brainwashing him.
Metallo goes to exact his revenge, but Superman stops him by detaching his kryptonite heart. Superman then yells at Luthor for squandering his resources on trying to destroy him. Back at LexCorp, Luthor contemplates this, but decides to increase his budget and concoct a perfect evil plan.
In a flashback, a seven-year-old Luthor builds a model of LexCorp in his room, vowing to become someone Metropolis will look up to.
