"Superman: The Story of Superman, Junior": This story is reprinted from Action Comics #232.

Superman Annual #7 is an issue of the series Superman Annual (Volume 1) with a cover date of August, 1963. It was published on June 13, 1963.

Synopsis for "Superman: The Story of Superman, Junior"

This story is reprinted from Action Comics #232.

Dr. Morton Kirk, believing that Earth was doomed to perish when a giant planet threatened to collide with it, sent his young son Johnny off in a rocket, intending to place him on another world. But Superboy saved the Earth, though he was unable to find Johnny Kirk, and the dying Dr. Kirk left him a last request: that if he found Johnny, he would become his legal guardian. Years later, the space capsule carrying Johnny crashes to Earth, and Superman learns that Johnny's passage through space has given him super-powers. He adopts Johnny, gives him the identity of Superman, Jr., and moves to Smallville under a new secret identity...and all the while, a "super-poison" Superman has breathed in from the space capsule is robbing him of his powers.

Synopsis for "Superman: The Super-Sword"

This story is reprinted from Superman #124.

Perry White goes on vacation leaving the rest of the staff at the Daily Planet to continue working without him, Lois publishes a story about how Superman had recently put "Bull" Mathews gang behind bars. News comes out about a mysterious knight trapped in a block of ice, prompting Clark to change into Superman to investigate. Smashing the knight out of the chunk of ice, he is shocked to find that the Black Knight is actually alive and was apparently trapped in that ice centuries ago by Merlin.

Brought back to Metropolis, the Black Knight then begins a crime spree, which gets the attention of Bull Mathews himself who is still at large. During another robbery, the Knight is stopped by Superman, however the Man of Steel is apparently wounded by the Knight's Enchanted Super-Sword and has to be taken to a hospital.

The Black Knight is then propositioned by Bull Mathews to purchase the Knights sword so that he can kill Superman with it, a deal that the Knight accepts for $30,000. With the Super-Sword Mathews seemingly slays Superman, however when he goes to pay the Knight, Superman arrives alive and well, the whole plan really a trick to catch Bull Mathews. The next day, the Knight shows up at the Daily Planet and reveals himself to be none other than Perry White, who had been asked to help catch Mathews by Superman.

Synopsis for "Superman: Superman's Mystery Power!"

This story is reprinted from Superman #125.

Detecting a disturbance under Metropolis, Superman goes under ground to quell seismic activity, and uncovers an alien ship. The ship explodes upon it's contact with him, and later when he spots some crooks, he realizes that his conventional powers (except for flight and invulnerability) have been replaced with a new power: rainbow beams that he shoots out of his hands which cause the crooks to instantly surrender. What Superman soon learns is that his hands actually shoot a miniature version of himself that can utilize all his lost powers.


After a series of assists, Superman can't help but feel some resentment towards the "Superman Proxy", as it has his full powers and is getting all the press attention. Later, the Proxy ends up acting on its own stopping crimes before Superman becomes aware of them. However, when a group of criminals tries to kill Superman with a chunk of Kryptonite, the Proxy ends up sacrificing itself by knocking it into the ocean where it can't harm him. With the Proxy being deceased, Superman gains his original powers back and gathers up the crooks.

Synopsis for "Superman: Superman in the White House"

This story is reprinted from Superman #122.

Perry White assigns Clark Kent, Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen with an assignment to write a Patriot's Day piece about a famous president. Jimmy ponders what the world would be like if Superman were president. While attempting to straighten a photograph, the picture falls from the wall, smacking Jimmy in the head. Jimmy falls unconscious and has a dream that Superman is actually the President of the United States.

In this dream, Clark Kent is Superman's vice president, and Jimmy is his press secretary. Superman becomes the country's most revered president ever, and even has his image placed upon the one-hundred dollar bill and the postage stamp.

Jimmy Olsen eventually awakens and tells Clark of his dream. Clark explains to Jimmy that Superman could never become president as he is not a naturalized United States citizen.

Synopsis for "Superman: The Super-Gorilla from Krypton"

This story is reprinted from Action Comics #238.

In Africa, a visiting Jimmy Olsen is attacked by a super-gorilla. Jimmy summons Superman with his Signal Watch. Superman discover a space capsule and that this gorilla is from Krypton, and Jimmy names the creature as King Krypton. Fight after fight, seems as the Man of Steel can't handle the Gorilla of Steel, as an ordinary Terran man can't handle a ordinary gorilla without external ways. In the jungles, Jimmy discover an Coliseum replica, and descendents of the Ancient Romans, now reverted to primitive tribesmen. Their king force Superman and King Krypton to fight between themselves. The fight causes the ground to break, revealing kryptonite under the soil. The Super-Gorilla shields the radiation with his own body, and slowly he becomes human! Actually he was a Kryptonian scientist devolved into a gorilla by a defective evolution device and shot into space in a capsule by his partner. King Krypton dies as a human.

Synopsis for "Superboy: The Punishment of Superboy!"

When Jonathan Kent receives the Father of the Year award, Clark Kent remembers how he was once disobedient to him and, after flaunting his ability to withstand any punishment meted out, was finally disciplined in a meaningful way--emotionally.

Synopsis for "Superboy: The Origin of the Superman-Batman Team!"

This story is reprinted from Adventure Comics #275.

Superboy uses his time-viewer to see himself as Superman accompanying Batman on a future crook-catching operation, after which the two heroes resume their Clark Kent and Bruce Wayne identities. Later, Bruce Wayne moves to Smallville, and, with some prodding from Lana Lang, briefly assumes the identity of the Flying Fox and becomes a partner to Superboy. Lana challenges Bruce to discover Superboy's true identity in exchange for a date to junior prom. He does, but he confesses it to Superboy without telling Lana and, feeling he is too young to be trusted with the secret, has Superboy hypnotically remove the knowledge from his mind. Later, Bruce and his parents leave Smallville to return to Gotham City.

Synopsis for "Lois Lane: Superman's Secret Sweetheart"

This story is reprinted from Superman's Girl Friend, Lois Lane #2.

Lois Lane visits her old alma mater, Raleigh College. She meets a young student named Polly Smith who is currently residing in Lois' old dormitory room. Polly is upset because the other girls will not let her into a sorority house unless she has a boyfriend. Lois contacts Superman and asks his assistance in helping Polly get into the sorority.

Superman arrives at Raleigh College and pretends to woo Polly Smith. His actions culminate in a fake marriage proposal at a sorority dance, and Polly becomes one of the most popular girls at school.
