Superman Family Adventures #5 is an issue of the series Superman Family Adventures (Volume 1) with a cover date of November, 2012.

Synopsis for the 1st Story

A small, purple meteor is about to hit Metropolis when it is caught by Lex, who sees no use of it and orders his minion Otis to dispose of it. Instead, Otis keeps it for himself and hides it in his hat. The purple rock transforms Otis into a purple creature that can absorb energy from living creatures, making him stronger and causing others to fall asleep from exhaustion. Suddenly, Otis stumbles upon Clark and absorbs his powers. Empowered, Otis begins absorbing more energy from bystanders.

Lois and Jimmy see Clark asleep at work, so Jimmy gives him a cup of coffee, which awakens Clark and allows him to address the emergency as Superman. The Parasite absorbs more of Superman's powers and acquires his appearance and personality, including his feelings for Lois. Superman, having drunk more coffee and wearing oven mitts, distracts Parasite long enough for him to lose his powers and fall asleep. With the threat ended, Lois teases Superman over his feelings for her.

Meanwhile, a special delivery has arrived at the Fortress of Solitude. It contains doggie treats for Krypto and cheese legs for Fuzzy. Streaky notices a Superman action figure that suddenly begins hovering all by itself, but Streaky is too sleepy to care.

Back at Metropolis, Lex puts his next plan into action: become a Daily Planet employee so he can have access to the information they have on the Superman Family. Lex easily tricks Perry into hiring him and Perry orders Jimmy to bring him coffee. Arrogant as ever, Luthor brings Perry a special coffee prepared in a coffee stand, but Perry rejects it, as he prefers homemade coffee. Perry orders Luthor to take photos of Superman's heroic actions, distracting him from his goal of hacking Lois' computers for information about Superman. Eventually, Lex gets fed up with Perry's constant demands for coffee and quits, and the Superman Family and the Daily Planet staff reveal they were always onto Lex's scheme.

Later, Perry finds the Parasite sitting on his desk and angrily tells him to leave. Noticing his resemblance to the Parasite, Perry compliments his attractiveness.
