Synopsis for Supergirl: "A Matter of Gravity"
Back on Santa Augusta, Supergirl hears on a TV news report that an old friend from Stanhope College, Rudi Clement, has apparently blown up his home in a gravitational experiment. Linda decides go to the place and check on Rudi.
Meanwhile, the Doom Patrol are taking a stroll around London when an explosion rocks a building. The Doom Patrol takes people to safety and prevent the building from collapsing. They try to arrest the perpetrator, an armored man who claims his inventions were stolen by Rudi Clement and who believes the Patrol is after his Gravitronic Ray, but they are crushed to the ground by the man's gravity weapon.
Linda Danvers drives her way to Rudi's farm, but the property has been sealed off. Linda has just found out Rudi vanished right after the explosion when the land starts shaking. Linda senses the disturbance is atmospheric, and caused by something beneath the Clement farm. She changes to Supergirl and is about to fly into a secret tunnel when she is blasted away. A costumed man emerges from the tunnel, railing at someone called Tain and boasting about destroying him with his more powerful gravitational device.
Kara recognizes Rudi's voice and realizes it's his device what is causing those atmospheric disruptions. She wants to talk him down, but Rudi hits her with a gravity blast and flies off before she can stop him. Supergirl can't chase after him either because his tampering with gravitational forces is jeopardizing the whole world and even affecting her flying power. As Supergirl endeavours to control her own flight, she reasons Rudi's device shouldn't be able to affect her, so someone else must be responsible.
Unbeknownst to Kara, she is being observed by a bodiless entity who gloats Supergirl will die today.
