So in short, you almost turned everyone in my city into Man-Bats... because you were kissed by someone wearing a Kryptonite lipstick?
Superman Unlimited #4 is an issue of the series Superman Unlimited (Volume 1) with a cover date of October, 2025. It was published on August 20, 2025.
Synopsis for "Look Up In The Sky! It's A Bat!"
In Gotham City, group of thieves attempts to break into a building from the rooftop until they are ambushed by a Man-Bat, who gets shot by one of the thieves and falls into the streets below. He crashes into a car occupied by Jimmy and Tee-Nah, who has just started working at the Daily Planet. The duo is investigating a mysterious thief who keep stealing the "E" from the Daily Planet sign at the building's rooftop and their quest had led them to Gotham. Jimmy activates his signal watch and hopes Superman listens.
Superman listens to the signal all the way back from Metropolis and prepares to help Jimmy, until he gets interrupted by an influencer, Veronica Vreeland, who just fell off a tall building. He tries to save her but the influencer's Kryptonite jewelry is harmful to Superman, so he has to keep his distance and think of another way to break her fall. Instead of grabbing Veronica directly, Superman uses his super-breath to slowly reduce her falling speed, until she safely lands on a lead-lined garbage dump. As thanks, Veronica kisses Superman, but her lipstick is also lined with Kryptonite.
Jimmy and Tee-Nah have brought the injured Man-Bat to Leslie Thompkins' clinic, but Leslie doesn't think that treating the Man-Bat is a good idea. Luckily, Batman had already installed cameras to monitor Leslie's workplace 24/7 and Damian goes to assist them. The injured Man-Bat awakens just as Superman and Robin arrives at the clinic and restrain the Man-Bat, but the Man-Bat bites Superman in his right arm. Robin anesthetizes the Man-Bat and deduces that this new Man-Bat was an assistant to Kirk Langstrom. He was infected by a new strain of the Man-Bat virus and Robin is worried that this new strain might be communicable.
Robin's fears prove valid when the virus infects Superman and turns him into a Kryptonian Man-Bat. Robin and his friends flee from the medical center, while Tee-Nah modifies Jimmy's watch so she can communicate with Batman's allies. With the watch, Tee-Nah makes contact with Oracle and informs her of the situation, and Oracle sends the Birds of Prey to stop the infected Superman. The Birds of Prey intercept Superman and try to restrain him but Superman infects Black Canary, as well.
Jimmy deduces that Superman is specifically targeting him, so he asks Robin to take him out of Gotham, where the infected Superman can't infect any more people. Now that they are out of the city, Jimmy modifies his signal watch so that its ultrasonic frequency can incapacitate Superman.
The next day at the Daily Planet, Jimmy completes his article, in which he explains that Superman's infected form had made him vulnerable to high-pitched noises, like Jimmy's watch or Black Canary's Canary Cry. With Superman's weakness exposed, the heroes of Gotham were able to keep him incapacitated until Drs. Leslie and Langstrom developed a cure.
Later, Superman meets up with Batman at an auxiliary Batcave and explains what happened when Batman was gone. Bruce was unable to help Superman because he had traveled to El Caldero to buy as much Kryptonite as possible and keep it out of the wrong hands. For now, he is keeping the Kryptonite sealed in a lead-lined vault but the cost of Kryptonite continues increasing, so this is just a temporary measure. While Bruce informs Superman of his findings at El Caldero, Robin just to check on his own lead-lined vault, which holds all the "E"s he had stolen from the Daily Planet as a joke.
