Synopsis for "Into the Heart of the Kryptonite Kingdom, Part Two: King's Ransom"

A trio of children living in Emerald City has heard that Superman had arrived at their home and stop to take pictures of the Supermobile, which is still parked on the streets. One of the kids say that Superman has entered a mine full of Kryptonite and wonders why would he do that and another replies that he is Superman and he fears nothing.

Deep within Tunnel One, Superman continues suffering the effects of Kryptonite radiation. His anti-Kryptonite armor has been pierced by attackers from the Kobra cult and Ron Troupe asks one of El Caldero's Krypto-Knights to use his lance to seal the breach in the armor, but the Krypto-Knight replies that his lance is powered by Kryptonite, so it might do more harm than good. The Kobra cultists attempt to contact their team leader, who has been killed by President Castilho, but Lord Naga, leader of the Kobra cult informs them that Superman is vulnerable and this is the best chance they have to remove their biggest enemy off the game. As Superman is surrounded by Kobra agents, the Krypto-Knights attempt to protect him.

In another part of the tunnel, Castilho demands to know why Lois is in El Caldero and Lois replies that her duty requires her to always search for the truth. She wonders if she is willing to kill her like he killed the Kobra cultist just to cover up the fact that the sun crystal on his hands does not actually belong to Castilho, who has no regrets for killing a terrorist but does feel bad for having to kill Lois. Castilho does not know, however, that Lois always has an escape plan. She whistles and the Supermobile lifts off the ground and flies into the mines.

Superman, also hearing Lois' whistle and the Supermobile's engine, has no choice but to use his golden aura, even if it only lasts for a short time. As Superman takes out the Kobra agents, Lois boards the Supermobile and uses its robotic arms to take the sun crystal from Castilho. Angry, Castilho orders the Krypto-Knights to stop her and Ron notices that Lois is carrying the sun crystal. Superman deduces that Lois must have something Castilho wants and confronts Castilho about it. Castilho is left speechless before Superman, who has no time to question his so-called friend and must go to save his wife.

The Supermobile soars into Emerald City's skies and a Krypto-Knight attempts to puncture the Supermobile's canopy with his lance but Superman confronts him. Unfortunately, his golden aura wears off and Superman falls off the Supermobile until Lois grabs him. To make matters worse, the crystal has fallen into the ground beneath the city and even without his powers, Superman attempts to evacuate the city block. Superman's warning comes too late, however, as massive green crystals begin growing across the streets. The Krypto-Knights evacuate as many as they can but a boy is caught in the collapse of a building. Superman shields him from the impact with his body. Both survive and Castilho is overjoyed that a Kryptonian fortress has grown in the heart of the city, without any concern for possible casualties.

Castilho attempts to spin this into something positive and claims that it is thanks to Superman that El Caldero now has an entire Kryptonian fortress at their disposal. Lois insists that the crystal and the fortress belong to Superman, but Castilho replies that Lois cannot talk about rights because she entered El Caldero illegally and, from now on, Daily Planet staff like her and Ron are banned from entering their country. He demands Superman take them out of El Caldero, lest he put them on trial, alongside the Kobra agents. With his powers depleted, Superman has no choice but to leave and he tells Castilho that their conflict is not over.

With Superman and his friends gone, Castilho and his men inspect the newly created fortress and plan to use its secret to further expand the interests and influence of El Caldero all over the world. With his new palace, Castilho believes he can go from being the "Kryptonite King" to a "King of Krypton" and for that, he will need weapons, the best Krypton can provide.

As Superman and the Daily Planet team leave Calderan airspace, Superman asks Lois why did she travel to El Caldero and Lois replied she was feeling suspicious about Castilho and did not want to put anyone in her team in danger. Lois says that, with Superman's reputation with El Caldero in ruins, El Caldero will sell more Kryptonite to his enemies, but she has already sent out her best man to fight this new threat.

At Smallville, John Henry and Lana have opened their new Steelworks Campus and received a visit in the form of Jon, who has come to help with their latest project.
