Synopsis for "Protectors of Earth, Inc."
David Trump is a scientist doing secret research on a space-tunnel at S.T.A.R Labs. This would open up new possibilities in space travel, but criminals also would like to get their hands on it, especially ‘Protectors of Earth, inc’, a protection racket that aims to ransom the whole world. Meanwhile, eccentric writer Wade Halibut Jr. sets up a sticky situation for Clark, because he needs to learn how a reporter would behave for his new book. Trump gets kidnapped but Superman saves him, and the story would end here, but a paid actor, in the employ of Halibut, gives an empty envelope, ‘containing plans for a doomsday weapon’ and the Protectors catch wind of this. They start to tail Clark Kent who visits the Trump as Superman as he needs his unwavering grasp to keep the device steady, otherwise it might tear the fabric of space apart. When the crooks, who trailed Clark here, are about to shoot the scientist, Superman cannot stand motionless anymore and jumps before the bullet, triggering the mechanism. A tear opens in space, threatening to suck the whole planet into space. Superman in desperation ‘plugs the hole’ with his body, even Superman experiences agony and struggle when his body is stretched for thousands of miles into space, but he overpowers the anomaly and it ceases to exist, the triumphant Man of Steel walks off. Later, Halibut says in an interview that the world ended in his book, as there are no supermen in his story.
