"Trapped in IMP-TV!": Superman and Mr. Mxyzptlk have to make common cause when both are threatened by Mxyzptlk's insane cousin Nzykmulk in a battle populated by New Wave punk versions of Superman's closet friends televised on every TV set in Metropolis.

Quote1.png Nerve has nothing to do with it, cousin! Satisfaction is the name of my game! I can't begin to describe how much I've enjoyed watching you... ...watching you cower, cringe, and whine your way through my unique "wonderland"! You've been out-classed every which way, my detestable cousin! Not only have I spawned a "living video scenario" that will be the death of Superman... ...but the death of Mxyzptlk as well! Quote2.png

Synopsis for "Trapped in IMP-TV!"

Superman and Mr. Mxyzptlk have to make common cause when both are threatened by Mxyzptlk's insane cousin Nzykmulk in a battle populated by New Wave punk versions of Superman's closet friends televised on every TV set in Metropolis.

Notes

  • Mister Mxyzptlk appears next in DC Comics Presents #97. This is his final appearance in this series.
  • Mxyzptlk states that even though he and Nzykmulk look nearly identical to human eyes, Nzykmulk is 42 joljo's older and therefor more experienced and powerful.
  • Superman uses punk Clark's outfit to take out Nzykmulk but no one figures out Superman is the real Clark Kent.
  • This issue is set in the short period where the Superman of Earth-One (and all his supporting characters and villains) existed on the post-Crisis New Earth. This period ended when the effects of the Crisis "caught up" with Superman (et al) in The Man of Steel #1.

Trivia

  • Nzykmulk looks just like Mister Mxzptlk except he has a small mole on his right cheek.
  • Gooloogog is the name for mental institutions in the fifth dimension.
