After saving Arsenal from the Rocket Red Armor, the Superman of the future teams up with Lois Lane and Lex Luthor to visit the Fortress of Solitude in an attempt to find the technology to build Solaris and cure the Hourman Virus. Unfortunately, the fortress doesn't recognize Superman as a Kryptonian, and with his rapidly diminishing powers, he is unable to break inside. However, Superman does secure one necessary ingredient for the sentient sun — a sample of human blood, provided by Lois Lane.
This comic issue is a part of the "DC One Million" event that crossed over into every DC Title in 1998. It involved present day interaction with versions of the characters seen in contemporary comic books with their counterparts in the 853rd Century.
