Superman (Volume 2) #76 is an issue of the series Superman (Volume 2) with a cover date of February, 1993.

Synopsis for "Metropolis Mailbag II"

On the rooftop of the Daily Planet, the Justice League and other heroes gather so they can do one last thing to honor Superman. On the streets below, Mitch Anderson trudges in the rain, feeling sorry for himself. He's come to Metropolis to apologize to someone close to Superman, feeling it was his fault that Superman died. There, he finds a woman proclaiming to be "Mrs. Superman", only for Lois, who had attended, to blow up at her and march off, leaving the attending Jimmy alone. Jimmy notices Mitch and somewhat recognizes him. The two talk before Jimmy offers to get him something to eat, which he accepts.

In Clark's apartment, Lois regrets her blowup and begins to breakdown before finding Jonathan and Martha had just arrived with Lana to help her out.

In the Metropolis Post Office, the gathered heroes notice all the letters left for Superman and in total awe (except for Guy Gardner). As they start reading some of the letters, a lot of them outrageous, Guy discovers a letter from a sickly woman, begging to be reunited with her son before she passes. Dr. Light convinces Guy to do so, which he reluctantly does. Wonder Woman discovers a letter written by one woman (Mitch's mother), thanking Superman for saving their lives after Doomsday destroyed their house. She recruits Green Lantern and Flash to help her out.

At the Hobb's Bay Grille, Mitch laments his story to Jimmy and Bibbo, though Bibbo tries to reassure Mitch it wasn't his fault. Mitch feels that he had jinxed and had wanted to come to Metropolis to apologize when he learned of the "Mrs. Superman" before turning to his rage over his divorced father. The two men decide to take Mitch somewhere to do what he needs to do with Bibbo giving Mitch enough money to fly back home.

In Clark's apartment, Lois, Lana, Martha and Jonathan decide that, when it comes to it, the world must never know Superman and Clark Kent were one and the same.

At an apartment complex, Wonder Woman discovers Roger Anderson, Mitch's father. When he attempts to shun her away, she reveals that his family had been attacked by Doomsday, which floors him. She tells him why she's here and wants to help him and his family on Christmas day. As she does, Nightwing, Maxima and Guy help others their own way.

At the Superman Memorial, Mitch finally makes his peace with Superman while, back at his home, Flash and Green Lantern repair his home, much to the surprise of his mother and baby sister. To her surprise, Wonder Woman arrives with Roger, who realizes he was an idiot for abandoning them and wants to be a family again.

Underneath the Superman Memorial, Paul Westfield has done it: Superman's body is his.
